A new ‘all-through’ school to provide more secondary places will offer “outstanding education for local children of all ages”.
Detailed plans for Whitefriars Community School in Wealdstone, were submitted to Harrow Borough Council planning department last week.
The proposals will include a permanent expansion to include secondary school pupils.
Cabinet member for schools Councillor Simon Brown said: “The new Whitefriars School will offer an outstanding education for local children of all ages, a place for young people to go and facilities for the whole community – such as youth clubs and adult learning classes.
“Wealdstone is changing, with developments set for the ColArt and Kodak site, so there is a pressing need for these school places – and for a community hub at the heart of the town.
“The school will offer that – and I am delighted that the head teacher and everyone connected with the project is so committed to delivering it.”
The new all-through school will mean the redevelopment of Harrow Teachers Centre currently located next to the Whitefriars school in Tudor Road.
