A group of parents and teachers plan to set up a new school to teach children a different language from an early age.

Parents can register their interest in a proposed Harrow Bilingual Primary School, which were announced last week.

Pupils at the proposed free school would be taught equally in English and one additional language, either French or Spanish.

Organisers say learning another language at a young age has been shown to have a wide range of beneficial effects on children's brain development.

The group behind the school hopes to open for its first Reception class next year with the plans supported by London Diocesan Board for Schools.

The new school would therefore have Church of England designation, but would have an open admission policy for the entire community.
