A Stanmore burglary victim is trying to trace the owner of a camera found outside a cemetery because she knows "what it’s like to lose something”.

Lesley Turbott, 53, of Tintagel Drive, Stanmore, was handed the silver Nikon Coolpix 5600 by her daughter’s boyfriend who found it outside Golders Green Cemetery in Hoop Lane.

Scott Capel, 23, who is a groundsman at the cemetery, said: “A few weeks ago I was waiting to be picked up from work when I noticed the camera down the side of the wall. It was soaking wet, but it still had a memory card in it.”

Mr Capel took it to photo fanatic Ms Turbott, who downloaded approximately 50 photographs from the camera.

She said: “I always have a camera with me because I like to capture moments – I’m always taking pictures of my family and posting them on Facebook.

“When Scott showed me the camera he'd found I thought if it was mine I would really want to get it back and so we decided to try and find the owner.”

There are pictures of a family get-together as well as a kitchen renovation saved on the memory card.

Ms Turbott said: “I was burgled a couple of weeks ago so I know what it’s like to lose something. They took cash and my daughter, Carly’s iPod.

“I don’t know whether this camera was stolen, but I’d love for somebody to recognise the people in the pictures so we can hand it back to its owner.”
