I was interested in what Christopher Langley said he did not like about Harrow, but was disappointed he did not offer any solutions (‘’Other countries are a lot smarter’, Your Views, February 25).
Some of his objections puzzled me.
I can remember when most people did not have any gardens but everybody still had to act decently, so I’m not sure how gardens would improve the behaviour of young people.
Mr Langley does not like satellite dishes, especially on council properties, but dos not suggest how tenants can receive satellite TV without a satellite dish.
It would be nice to keep waste bins and cars out of sight, but councils seem to like residents’ cars blocking the road so the owners can pay a big fee for the privilege. What would he do about it?
Town twinning is a purely political idea. Douai is in France, which has a very different lifestyle from Britain. Comparing Harrow to Douai is just as useful as comparing Harrow to a town on the planet Jupiter.
