Hundreds are missing out — an open letter to Gareth Thomas MP

There has been a conspicuous silence from you regarding Harrow Council being nominated in the prestigious Management Journal awards as one of six best achieving councils in the country.

Had this been a Labour administration, you would have been the first to heap praise, no doubt mentioning reserves being quadrupled in three short years, on measures in every department improving, on recycling being the second best in London, on adult services showing an improvement for the first time in six years, and on our schools going from strength to strength.

But of course, had this been a Labour administration, all this would never have happened.

Councillor David Ashton, leader, Harrow Council

In my experience the Labour party are very good spreading vicious and mis-leading information. For example, during the Marlborough By-election in March 2008 Labour were stating Harrow is the worst council in London. They forgot to mention it was based on an audit report of when Labour were in charge of the council.

My...My how things have changed ... postive, constructive change - thanks to our Conservative run council.

Now Now, leave Gareth alone. Obviously, he does not have any time left to give his remarks on the wondeful and excellent work undertaken by Harrow Council since 2006. If he does praise the hard work of the Council Officers under the guidance of the Councillors then he has to do another ‘U’ turn like the government has had to do in several areas. Obvioulsy, this would not be appropriate. However, we assume he is currently busy trying to sort out his expense issues so will not be in a position to start a debate.

I have go no sympathy for either the Cut sprouting, illogical, PR driven Harrow or unpopular and failing Labour Central Govt – neither may I add the Chamaeleon Lib Dems but getting tired of this lot above: compelled to be faithful, benefits seeking peasants doing the job for master to attack on his whims!

It would be nice to see ordinary, impartial and genuine harrow residents making comments than paid up Tory usual suspects, at least we, as voters, deserve more respect when debating issues. You are doing more harm than good to any impartial voters by being as bad as each other. Do us a favour and do some real work for ordinary residents of Harrow for a change!
