Condemnation from Brent Council over mosque protests

Brent Council has condemned the actions of some at the protests in Harrow. Brent Council has condemned the actions of some at the protests in Harrow.

COUNCILLORS from Brent offered support for their Harrow neighbours by condemning extremist demonstrations and violence outside Harrow Central Mosque on Friday.

Brent Council passed an emergency motion last night hitting out at Stop the Islamisation of Europe for organising a demonstration outside the Station Road mosque on the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

It read: “This council condemns the ignorant, pointless and misguided attempts by extreme anti-Islamic elements to carry out a demonstration against the Islamic faith outside the mosque during Friday prayers and during the period of Ramadan.

“This council will oppose any similar types of demonstrations in this borough and resolves to work with the police and leaders of the mosques to prepare suitable plans to combat this threat, should it ever unfortunately occur in Brent.”

The motion went on to condemn violent attacks on police by some elements within the supporters of the mosque, saying: “This council also condemns outsiders within the counter-demonstration who refused to respond to the restraint called for by mosque leaders, and who resorted to attacks on the police.”

The motion was in line with the message from Harrow's community leaders, who have lined up to criticise both the SIOE protest and those from outside the borough who came on Friday to cause trouble.

The mosque itself has issued a message of thanks through the Harrow Times to those who turned out for a solidarity vigil organised by Unite Against Fascism.

However, its message stopped short of condemning the violent attacks on police and members of the press, scenes which overshadowed the earlier message of peace and unity from the vigil.

Let me see if I have this straight.
SIOE cancelled their democraticaly permitted demonstration at the request of the POlice who feared for the safety of their officers.
A handful of members turned up unaware of the cancellation but promptly made their way home.
In the absence of members of the SIOE the violence, criminal damage and assaults towards the police were perpetrated by members of the Mosque or co-religionists from elsewhere, aided and abetted by members of UAF. See elsewhere on the Harrow Times site for their names.
But the main thrust of the council statement is on the SIOE for daring to exercise their democratic right of protest, with the criminal activity of the others mentioned as practically an after thought.
And the Mosque fail to condem the violence at all.
Are the Councillors of Harrow so dependent on the Mosque vote, and Mosque business?

I think the wrong picture is being show don't you? Most people are aware from where the violence came.

Brent is another cesspit of cultural diversity, and it was a long time before Harrow was.

This is unbelievable, you couldn't mkae it up. I watched this demonstration with my own eyes, the demonstrators who came here didn't cause any trouble at all and left when they were told, then muslim youth carried on with violence and the guys who left get the blame.

Harrow you truely are dhimmified and i hope you rot to the ground in the cesspit that you are.

Lets not forget the police called off the SIOE demo minutes before it was meant to start.

The UAF had already arrived by this time.

Had the demo not been given permission to go ahead in the first place no violence would have erupted.

Lets also not forget the 1930's facist demos against the Jewish communities that erupted into violence. The Jewish youths were defending their rights and quite truly provoked into violence.

Violence in all forms should be condemned, so lets not alllow idiots like SIOE and the EDL to provoke it.
