Men arrested at mosque protest all from outside Harrow

DETAILS have been released of the ten people arrested on Friday at the protests outside Harrow Central Mosque.

The list reveals none of the men came from Harrow, and one came all the way from Peterborough to attend the protest.

Community leaders have lined up to condemn the violence which broke out at the end of the rally organised by Unite Against Fascism, when hundreds of young Asian men chased a small group of anti-mosque protestors before turning their anger on police.

Chief Superintendent Dal Babu, borough commander for Harrow, said today: “I think we have a very strong community in Harrow and we saw in the lead-up, between police, the local authority, and the local community, that we built on relationships, not built up relationships.

“People involved in the disorder were from outside Harrow, and all people arrested were from elsewhere.”

The full list of arrests is below:

- Ifran Razaq, 26, of Muswell Road, Peterborough, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, a knuckle duster.  He has been bailed to appear at Harrow Magistrates Court later this month.

- Ahmed Abdelrahman, 34, of West Kensington Court, Hammersmith, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, a lock knife.  He has been bailed to appear at Brent Magistrates Court later this month.

- Stephen Gash, 56, the organiser of the SIOE protest, was arrested to prevent a breach of peace. He was released when police were confident the threat had passed.

- Two men, 25 and 23, from Ladbroke Grove, a 25-year-old man from Purfleet in Essex, and a 21-year-old man from Willesden, were arrested for possession of offensive weapons, including hammers and bleach. They have been bailed pending further investigations.

- An 18-year-old man from Bow was cautioned for possession of an offensive weapon, a chisel, and another 18-year-old man from Bow was cautioned for possession of an offensive weapon, namely a spanner.

- An 18-year-old man from Wembley, was arrested but released without charge for possession of an offensive weapon.

Says it all doesn't it?

Yet the SIOE are still being blamed for violence. What kind of idiot brings a lock knife to a protest in a democratic free country? A person that doesn't belong here, that's who.
