Harrow braced for protests outside central mosque

HARROW communities are bracing themselves ahead of two rival protests being held today outside Harrow Central Mosque on the eighth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Stop the Islamisation of Europe (SIOE) is holding a rally outside the mosque, in Station Road, starting at 5pm, saying it wants to commemorate the victims of the terror attacks.

Unite Against Fascism (UAF) has rallied supporters to hold a peaceful vigil and counter-demonstration between 1pm and 7pm in the same place today.

Metropolitan Police officers are expected to be out in force this afternoon, amid fears there could be a repeat of violent clashes in recent weeks at similar demonstrations in Birmingham and Luton.

The Harrow Times is standing shoulder to shoulder with the mosque and community leaders, condemning any attacks on the Harrow community and appealing for calm in Wealdstone this afternoon.

Navin Shah, assembly member for Brent and Harrow, is due to address the UAF demonstration this afternoon alongside Tony McNulty, MP for Harrow East.

He said: “I am going to be emphasising the message of unity.

“Harrow is one of the UK's most vibrant multi-cultural communities which thrives on racial harmony and the many achievements we have had.

“I will ask people to not let attacks from within or outside our community damage what we have achieved in Harrow.”

Former London Mayor Ken Livingstone, who is chairman of UAF, spoke out ahead of the demonstrations against the SIOE rally.

He said: "People should wake up to the fact the protests outside mosques are taking us back to the fascism of the 1930s, when fascist thugs marched against Jews and their places of worship.

“This demonstration should be condemned and banned on the grounds of blatant religious discrimination and a threat to public order."

You can follow the progress of the demonstrations on this website throughout the day, or follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/Harrow_Times

I was born in Harrow and in 2000 I wrote to Tony Blair with regard to the Islamification of the area; I was told that if I didn't like it then maybe I should MOVE. Well move I did just like many other's who once called Harrow home, people who were horrified at the rate at which Islam was taking over every aspect of the town. I couldn't accept the fact that my son was one of very few non-Muslim children at Harrow High; if that insults people, well so be it! So please don't patronise people by saying that there is racial harmony in Harrow because there is not.

And this was never anything to do with the colour of someone's skin either; it WAS to do with this forceful cult which has taken a devastating hold in many areas of the UK.

Good luck to the men and women of SIOE this afternoon.
A peaceful demonstration to indicate that we will not meekly submit to sharia, dhimmitude and the caliphate, all of which islam has in store for us.

Mosque
Well, it’s good to see Tony (Mr Expenses) McNulty and Gareth Thomas, Harrow’s own Ant & Dec, getting together again to campaign in Harrow. The last time they were in tandem was to lobby for the closure of Edgware General Hospital, and they were successful then. Most recently they only seem to venture into their constituencies to campaign to keep superannuated “rough-house” pubs open.
We all look forward to them, and their merry band of camp-followers, flying off soon to Tripoli to celebrate the release of the Lockerbie murderer alongside that hero of the left, Mr Blair’s new BF, Colonel Ghaddafi.
Of course, the girls, including your own Rachel Sharp, will have to don a flattering hijab and walk a few paces behind the guys – if they can get permission of their fathers, brothers or husbands to travel.
God is indeed great when such a range of mighty, unbiased intellects (and Jerry Zeid) can gather together to battle for a single cause. All that is missing is a representative of the Scottish Nazi (oops, that’s Nationalist, spot the difference) Party...
Cheers! Oh, no alcohol – better make it “Peace on you all!”

I would like to refer to a few things some people are saying on here! there is not racial activities occuring at Harrow yet! however with these narrow minded fascists protesting all they are doing is promoting and provoking voilence!!!what i do not understand is why on earth are terrorists protesting against terrorism. makes utterly no sense!!further to miss heathers statement, Harrows Islamic society is expanding and how great it is that it is!!it will promote peace and harmony. People like you are too narrow minded!!

To Shay: So Heather is narrow-minded is she? You think she despises gays and believes women should cover up head to toe (except for the eyes)?
Hmmmm somehow I don’t think so…..look at your own religion first before you call others narrow-minded.

Richard, i think you will find that is against a wide range of religions to be gay/lesbian!!even christians! the difference is we choose to follow that!! and as for the hijaab it is to guard our modesty. You can carry on degarding other relegions!!but i won't each to his own!!

I love my relegion and I think what is narrow minded that other people have to comment on it!! let people get on and live their lives they way they want!!!

May Allah Bless Harrow's Multi-Cultural Community! :-)

As a Muslim I’m struggling to see the point of the protest outside Harrow on 9/11.
With respect, your original protest against a suspected Sharia Court at the venue was denied outright by the mosque, and supported by local leaders, including Gareth Thomas MP and Tony McNulty MP.
Thus, and without resorting to obscenities or expletives towards your democratic right to, I do urge you to rethink the actual logic of a protest at a mosque which has been present for 25 years, without a single issue prior.

Perhaps if the mosque was opening, or had tangible and credible links to extremist Wahhabist Islamism I would have some sort of semblance of understanding. But I’m baffled by the whole thing.

If the tax-paying, law-abiding Muslims’ voices are heard, there will be no need for such protests in the future. We are not here to cause you harm, neither was a microchip implanted into our brains at birth with a default ‘anti-English’, or ‘anti-European’ mindset. We live here, legitimately, to do the best that we can in life. Yes, we do appreciate the many benefits that the United Kingdom has to offer, be it free healthcare, education and the generally tolerant and forbearing Brits that have generally welcomed us with open arms. We are indeed grateful for all of this, and proud of not only England, but the United Kingdom, where even the richest nation in the world – the USA, cannot boast the aforementioned benefits such as free healthcare. We have brought you our arts, our food, our languages and our culture.

I do hope you all understand that Muslims such as myself, who can articulate our point of view exist in abundance

I do wish peace upon you all, regardless of your beliefs and regardless of any diversity, be it in the form of colour, creed, race or religion.

In deference to the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Royal Commission for Political Correctness, it was announced today that the local climate in the UK will no longer be referred to as "English Weather".

Rather than offend a sizeable portion of the population, it will now be referred to as "Muslim Weather".

In other words - partly Sunni, but mostly Shi'ite.

Richard - Get a grip ; We have problems in our society with drugs, under age pregancy, pedo's, crime and endless other issues.

You'll see that Muslims have the low % in all theses aspects. It is not Islam but different cultures which also gets confused with religion.

I hope there is a peace demo but don't think this is required. Very insentive on the timing by the individuals.

Richard grow up son, referring to "which ones carry out the amputations".
Well I'll tell you; there are NINETEEN conditions that have to be met before any amputation is carried out (of the FINGERS, not the whole hand or wrist).
The Jewish religion, pertaining to the Old Testament, requires crucifixion for one convicted of stealing. Same with the origins of Christianity.

I am surprised Unite Against Fascism is marching in favour of Islam.

Don't get me wrong I believe in religion for everyone however Islam imposes on other religions and socities. It rejects democracy. I could go on.

Muslims have a right to practice in this country however pushing other faiths out of the way is a bit naughty.

This goes out to all the Nazi nutcases spreading lies about Islam. You are trying to justify Nazi behaviour just like the supporters of Hitler did once upon a time. Yes just like YOU they thought they had good reasons for their sick treatment of the Jewish people. Don’t try denying it. You hate a religion you know nothing about (absolutely nothing) and rely on Nazi videos posted on you tube and the media. Ever thought of getting a real education? You may discover the truth and will be doing yourself and the rest of Britain a big favour. Take a deep look inside yourself and you will find you are full of nothing but hatred. I wonder what other sick thoughts cross your sick minds. So if religion isn’t your thing what guidance do you have in your life? Don’t tell me the bnp and groups like sioe. Believe me they don’t really care about you. I mean what would they do if you or one of your loved ones turned gay. They would hate you too. These people hate everyone it may be Muslim’s now but they will always hate. Hate just doesn’t disappear from your system. One final piece of reality, the media is not a good source of education ever heard of the word propaganda. Seems like you may have fallen victim to thickness and too much TV. Hope you discover the truth one day for your own sake not mine.

To Heather I would have to say that if there is no racial harmony in Harrow it is simply because people like you have made a choice to move away from the area, thereby opening the door to more non-white families to move in and dominate that area. You were not forced to move. Your home was not occupied. You chose to move. It's as simple as that. You may feel that you were forced out because of the dwindling population of whites - but the reality is either you felt you could no longer tolerate living amongst non-whites or you felt a need to live amongst whites. The imbalance of whites and non-whites is of your own making. You had two choices: stay or leave - you chose to leave.

Anybody who believes the UK is being Islamised is deluded. Muslims are vilified today as Jews were yesterday. Society always needs an enemy and sadly today Islam is it. So what if Muslims demand sharia courts because we believe the English legal system is not complex enough to meet the legal needs of our community. So what. Is our nation not free and democratic? If we Muslims demand more from this country it is because we are entitled to more. More than we are getting. And so are you. We pay our taxes. We contribute to the economy. Muslims understand that society should serve the people and not the other way around. It may seem like we are demanding special treatment but the reality is we demand with loud voices. And sometimes our voices are heard. Non-Muslims are also entitled to receive more from society. But, alas, either your voices are not loud enough or you lack apathy and the strength that is required to demand it. Don't blame Muslims for that.

If non-Muslims are unhappy with the idea of Muslims affording "special" treatment, then take it up with your MP. Lobby the government. Shout louder than we do and work harder to oppose us. Because that is what free people do. Venting your frustration on internet web pages will get you nowhere.

Imposes on other religions???
Giant, do elaborate, how Islam imposes on other religions and societies? My understanding is that Islam is choice, rather a personal one. Mankind is free to adhere(or not) as he pleases. For example India has been under Islamic rule for a significant period, and if what you stated would be true, today we wouldnt find a single Hindu or Shikh or even a christian or jew for that matter, however surprisingly the majority are hindu. Spain has been similarly under islamic rule for a long time, but again majority are not muslims. You will find on studying history that those were rather peacefull times. Therefore we can safely say Islam imposes nothing but offers, so you are free to say yes or no. The past events leading to islamophobia are fueled greatly by the media for some reason, but I guess the person acused of killing the most people, still remains a christian( Adolph Hitler) and not a muslim and that does NOT make all christians bad just like it does not make all muslims bad. So there is no need to be afraid of Isam. For your information, I condemn all killings( no double standards here ;]) wether it be in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq as well as the states and London. Finaly want to say please do research on islam yourselves rather than relying on hear say, mainstream media.

Forceful cult? Heather, I am a Muslim British and White and proud to be all three. I was neither forced nor brainwashed to become Muslim. I did it out of choice. Maybe you should learn more about Islam rather than going on what the media says and make your own judgement. Could it not be a possiblilty that the people of Harrow were embracing Islam because people saw its true beauty? Would you rather we all be violent, drunken hooligans instead? Its ignorance and lack of knowledge as to why your are so bitter towards Muslims. Maybe if you interacted with Muslims you would change your opinion. And remember that there are good and bad in every race and religion, you should not tar everyone with the same brush.

dudlien123 - seems you know Jack Sh1t about Islam in India. You haven't a clue how Islam wiped out the Budhists in the Himalyas and in what is now Afganistan. You have no idea how many hindus were forcefully converted or killed. It is estimated that 20m hindus died in India until the Islamic rulers were finally overthrown. Beneath every mosque in India - you'll find the rubble of a hindu temple.
