With only 100 days left until this year’s General Election in May, the Harrow Times takes a look at who has put their name forward for the constituencies in the borough.

Harrow West, which has a recorded electorate of 69,135, includes nine electoral wards made up of Greenhill, Harrow on the Hill, Headstone North and South, Marlborough, Rayners Lane, Roxbourne, Roxeth and West Harrow.

The seat has returned Labour Party MP Gareth Thomas, who will also stand as this year’s Labour candidate, since 1997.

Contesting the seat is Conservative candidate Hannah David, a former Hertsmere councillor and small business owner, and the Green Party’s Rowan Langley, an electrical engineer and trade union official.

Harrow Times:

In Harrow East, the electorate totals 72,537 and is made up of the electoral wards of Belmont, Canon, Edgware, Harrow Weald, Kenton East and West, Queensbury, Stanmore Park and Wealdstone.

MP Bob Blackman has held the seat since 2010 and will also be standing as the Conservative candidate in May.

His main challenger is Labour Party candidate Uma Kumaran, who works in the Labour Group office.

Also running are Liberal Democrat and office assistant Ross Barlow, Socialist Party candidate Nana Asante - a former Mayor and Harrow Councillor - and the Green Party’s Emma Wallace, a school librarian.

Harrow Times:

Another MP defending his seat is Ruislip, Pinner and Northwood's Conservative representative Nick Hurd.

The constituency, which has an electorate total of 71,706, was created in 2010 and includes three electoral wards in Harrow – Pinner, Pinner South and Hatch End.

He will face Labour Party candidate and Queensbury Councillor Michael Borio, Liberal Democrat Josh Dixon, UKIP candidate Gerard Barry and Green Party campaigner Karen Pillai.
