Residents at a care home took a trip down memory lane with a sing song to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day.

People at Reardon Court residential home in Cosgrove Close, Palmers Green, enjoyed an afternoon of songs, dancing, tea and cakes to mark 70 years since the landings on Normandy beaches by allied troops.

As one of his last mayoral duties, Councillor Chaudhury Anwar said: “This event celebrates the people living at Reardon Court.

“For many of them D-Day was a significant turning point in the war when the battles on the Normandy beaches brought both a sense of horror at the loss of human life, but also a sense that the war was coming to an end.

"With music and song, Reardon Court is capturing something of the spirit that bound people together so long ago.”
