FORMER Conservative candidate Marcello Borgese is running as an independent in the by-election.
Mr Borgese, 41, recently left the party to be able to concentrate fully on the issues that concern him.
He said: "I feel more freedom as an independent. I'm not burdened with other party activities, I can vote how I want."
He is campaigning for value for money for the Harrow taxpayer, and wants to see communities integrate more.
A member of Canons Park Residents Association, Mr Borgese is a strong supporter of local businesses, and said: "It is vital for businesses in Harrow to thrive, in order to help the general economy."
He ran as a Conservative candidate in Queensbury in 2006, and feels he has benefited from the experience.
He said: "I learnt that you need to identify your target electorate, and get the message across in their terms."
Having lived in Canons Park for five years, he decided to enter politics because he was frustrated with Labour party policies.
He said: "I was angry at Labour for allowing British industry to disintegrate. I wanted to get into politics to stop Labour doing more damage."
