Pitbull type savages man and dog in South Harrow

A MAN and his dog have been seriously injured in an “horrific attack” by a pitbull in South Harrow.

The 58-year-old was walking his Jack Russell terrier in Station Parade on New Year's Day when the brown pitbull type dog attacked outside Spice Mahal restaurant at around midday.

When the man tried to rescue his dog from the jaws of the attacker, the dog turned on the man leaving him with serious wounds to his cheek and lips.

The Jack Russell has been seriously injured, requiring extensive treatment from a vet, and the man needed around 60 stitches to the bites on his face.

Detective Constable Will Ridler, who is investigating the attack, said: “This was an horrific attack which left the victim with serious facial injuries that required 60 stitches and will probably require ongoing medical treatment.

“We are extremely keen to speak to the owner of the pitbull or anyone with any information about the incident."

The pitbull owner, a white man in his early 20s with short brown hair, ran away towards South Harrow station shortly after the attack, taking his dog with him.
