Hurricanes and spitfires take to the skies for Battle of Britain flight

SPITFIRES and Hurricanes will fly over the skies of north London tomorrow as part of a special Battle of Britain flypast.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will complete a historic tour of all Battle of Britain stations on Friday, as part of the 70th anniversary commemorations.

At 4.03pm, skywatchers will be able to spot the veteran aircraft flying over the skies of the RAF Museum, the former site of Battle of Britain Station RAF Hendon, and at 4.06pm above Bentley Priory in Stanmore, as the flypast makes it way from Biggin Hill to Northolt.

The flight will comprise the Spitfire P7350, the oldest airworthy Spitfire and the only Spitfire still flying to have actually fought in the Battle of Britain and Hurricane LF363, the last Hurricane to enter service with the RAF.

These will join in formation with Spitfire AB910, which flew over 143 operational missions in World War 2 and Hurricane R4118, the only Hurricane from the Battle of Britain still flying.
