Hundreds of people swapped old clothes for something new at a clothes recycling event at the Civic Centre on Friday.

Council staff and people from around the borough packed in to the council chambers for the London Fashion Week-inspired event for the opportunity to swap up to ten items of clothing, shoes or accessories.

The swap shop was part of Harrow Council’s Wear It, Love It, Share It campaign with the West London Waste Authority, which aims to encourage recycling of clothes and reduce the amount sent to landfill.

Portfolio holder for environment, Councillor Phillip O’Dell, said that the event was “a real success”.

Brilliant! Get swapping! Every community in Harrow needs fun exchange schemes that allow people to swap something unwanted for something they want.
