A man has been rushed to hospital with head injuries after a car careered into a bus shelter earlier this afternoon.

The crash at 2pm outside the Lidl supermarket in Blackbird Hill completely destroyed the bus stop, and a 50-year-old man was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in a serious condition.

The road has now reopened, but traffic is queuing on the westbound carriageway back to the junction with A406 North Circular Road.
