The first image of how a town centre park could look after a £1.3million revamp next year has been released.
Harrow Council has appointed landscape architects Adams & Sutherlands to transform Lowlands Recreation Ground behind Harrow-on-the-Hill Station into an outdoor performance space with seating, with a café kiosk and new shrubs and plants.
Councillors hope that they can turn the underused park into a central hub for the town centre, and have won £1.28m from the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund for the project.
The architects want shoppers, commuters and businesses to get involved in the plan and contribute ideas during a consultation, before the final design is agreed in March next year.
Director of Adams and Sutherland, Liz Adams, said: “It is a tremendous opportunity to both reinstate and reinvent Lowlands as an important open space for local people, and to reconnect this part of Harrow with the town centre and Harrow-on the-Hill.
“We are looking forward to working with local people to deliver a project which builds on and extends the rich cultural mix of the area and creates a new home for culture in the heart of Harrow.”
