Both the Piccadilly and Metropolitan line are being severely delayed because of faults just two hours before an Olympic semi-final at Wembley Stadium.

Piccadilly line trains are still being affected by this morning’s signal failure at Acton Town, with severe delays on the Uxbridge branch.

And the entire Metropolitan line service is also being severely delayed because of a faulty train earlier at Harrow-on-the-Hill Station. Tickets are being accepted on Chiltern train services and local buses.

The faults could cause chaos for the Olympic football schedule, with Mexico due to take on Japan in the first men’s semi-final at 4.50pm at Wembley Stadium.

Transport for London had already warned that the lines would be exceptionally busy because spectators would travel from central London to the venue.
