A hospital radio station is trying to raise hundreds of pounds by auctioning a bat signed by the England cricket team.
Volunteers at Radio Northwick Park are auctioning the bat, signed by the 13-man squad for this summer’s Test series against the West Indies, on eBay as they prepare for their biggest fundraising weekend of the year.
DJs at the station will be holding their own Olympics on-air this weekend with a 2,012-minute show, including a 50-mile bike ride, a half marathon, and even a 1,000m swim at midnight.
Fundraising officer Dan Cottrell said he was “thrilled” to be auctioning the England bat, with the current highest bid being £51 . The winner will be announced when the bid closes during Sunday’s show.
The station has been broadcasting to patients in the hospital in Watford Road since 1971.
