More than 200 tennis players celebrated their Edgware club being given official approval on Sunday.

Members and guests of The Drive Lawn Tennis Club, in The Drive, attended an award ceremony to watch the unveiling of a Clubmark plaque which acts as an official quality approval stamp from the Lawn Tennis Association.

The plaque was unveiled by the Mayor and Mayoress of Barnet, Brian and Lynda Schama.

To achieve the accolade the club has spent a year working with the LTA to ensure that all of its coaching and facilities are of top quality.

Cllr Schama, himself a keen tennis player, said: “It’s been a wonderful day and it’s so good to visit such a friendly and well supported local tennis club.”
