Radio Northwick Park in Harrow to hold own Olympics on air
Volunteers at a hospital radio station will be holding their own Olympics live on air to raise cash.
DJs at Radio Northwick Park, which broadcasts to the patients in the Watford Road hospital, will complete a 50-mile bike ride, a half marathon, and even a 1,000m swim at midnight.
The event will be the biggest fundraiser this year for the 40-year-old charity, which has more than 120 volunteers and relies on donations.
Volunteer David Reece will be attempting a 2,012-minute show to coincide with the London 2012 Games.
He said: “I like the challenge of creating compelling radio for 33-and-a-half hours straight. Some people will be listening on their computers listening at home or work, but others will in hospital and I really want to make them feel better.
“Radio Northwick Park is a cause very close to my heart and I think this could be a very good way to raise funds to keep it going.”
The weekend of events, named The Radio Northwick Park Games, starts at 9am on July 21. Click here to donate.
