Charity staff visited Brent police this week as part of a campaign against disability crime.
Members of Brent Mencap went to Brent Police station, as part of Learning Disability Week 2012, to help raise awareness of the hate crime.
The charity has called on police to commit to the Stand By Me pledge and help people with a learning disability feel safer against the treat of such crimes.
Mencap representative Ian Niven said: “Hate crime stops people from living their lives and leaves them afraid to go out of the house.
“We all have to work together to stop this appalling crime from happening in our community."”
