Barham Park’s pop-up library is “overwhelmed” after receiving a large donation of children’s books from a publisher.
The original library was open for 60 years in Harrow Road, but after it was closed by Brent Council last year, a campaign group set up the pop-up library in Barham Park Primary School in Danethorpe Road.
Usborne Books, which won Children’s Publisher of the Year last month, also donated jigsaw puzzles, board games and snap card packs.
Children spent Saturday signing a big thank you card to the publishers to show their appreciation.
Francis Henry, who has been campaigning to reinstate the original library with his seven-year-old daughter, Gabriella, says it was a very “generous” gift.
He added: “Their fantastic books means that our volunteer library can offer even more to the young people who lost out when Brent Council closed Barham Park library.”
The temporary library, which has been running for five weeks, is open every Saturday between 11am and 2pm and will run until the end of July.
