A volunteer group trained to respond to patients in life threatening situations is looking for new people to join its team.
Harrow Community First Responders, (CFR) trained by the St John Ambulance Service, aim to arrive within eight minutes of a 999 call being logged.
The group, which mainly responds to patients suffering from heart attacks and strokes, are calling on volunteers in Harrow and Stanmore to sign up and help save more lives this year.
Kieran Mahon, who has been a volunteer since the scheme began three years ago, said: “We desperately need volunteers, because last year we really made a difference. If we could advertise the scheme and encourage ten new members to give up a few hours a week, we could carry on making that difference. Are you one of those ten?
“Our ultimate goal is to provide 24/7 cover, but with the small number of volunteers we have at the moment, that’s going to be impossible.”
CFR are holding an information evening on Thursday, February 16, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at the Harrow St John Headquarters, Woodlands Open Space Car park, Pinner Road.
