TOTTENHAM players are talking up a title challenge but manager Harry Redknapp insists he is not looking further than the next game.

A 2-0 win against Everton this evening put Spurs level on points with second placed Manchester United, and they will go joint top with a weekend win over Wolves.

But Redknapp is adamant the club should not get carried away with its current high-flying position.

He said: “I don't look any further than Wolves on Saturday. I couldn't tell you how many points the teams behind us have. All I'm worried about is Wolves coming on Saturday.

“It's going to be a hard game on Saturday, I know it's a cliché but we take each one as it comes and I can't plan any further than the next game.

“I've been saying all along, it's not impossible to win the title but it's going to be very hard. We've got a chance if we keep in there, and that's all we can do.”

He said he is not yet thinking about the clash with Manchester City in a fortnight's time, but admitted the dressing room talk is of a title challenge.

He said: “William Gallas came in the other day and was saying we have really got a chance here – it's not beyond the realm of possibility we could do this.”

A commanding victory at White Hart Lane was sealed with a thumping strike from 30 yards out from leftback Benoit Assou-Ekotto for only his second ever Spurs goal.

Redknapp said he was pleased to see returns to league action for Michael Dawson and Aaron Lennon, who scored the opening goal.

And he praised Jake Livermore, who played in central midfield in the absence of injured trio Tom Huddlestone, Scott Parker, and Sandro.

Redknapp said: “I was delighted for Jake. You couldn't get a better lad, he's a fantastic professional and a great boy.

“When I came here he had a bad injury and they said he looks like a decent player but not good enough for Tottenham.

“Well I think he is good enough to play for anyone.”

David Moyes praised his team's performance tonight, but conceded after their defeat much of the talk would be on Tottenham's growing title challenge.

He said: “Tottenham are doing well, so is the manager. They are title contenders and a really good team.

“But I thought we did OK tonight, we played quite well and tried to give them a game as much as we could.

“But we needed someone to strike the ball cleanly and we never really did that.”
