A MALE choir celebrated 70 years of singing at a Christmas concert by raising more than £1000 for a medical charity.
Harrow Apollo Male Choir, based at the Harrow Arts Centre, in Hatch End, performed in aid of the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre on Friday.
The choir was formed in 1941 at the DeHavilland Aircraft Factory in Stag Lane, Edgware, and was originally known as the De-Havilland Male Voice Choir.
The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is an independent medical charity based at Mount Vernon Hospital, in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood.
It provides scanning services for cancer patients.
The choir's anniversary was marked by the presentation of a cake by fundraising manager Rina Rawal to David Heasman, the choir’s music director.
