A COLOURFUL parade through Harrow tomorrow will kick off nine days of celebration as part of a Hindu festival.
The religious festival of Navratri – which literally means 'nine days' – is an important date in the Hindu calendar and symbolises the triumph of good over evil.
Hundreds of revellers are expected to be joined by politicians and police as they march through Wealdstone from the International Siddhasram Shakti Centre, in Palmerston Road, to Harrow Leisure Centre, in Christchurch Avenue.
Festival-goers traditionally wear gold jewellery and dance in the procession, but Harrow Police have warned them to cover up and be wary of thieves who target the event.
The event starts at 9.45am.
