A TOTTENHAM woman got a haircut she will not forget when her head was shaved to raise money for an Enfield special school today.

Kathy Watling, 51, of The Roundway, normally works on the meat and fish counter at Sainsbury’s but was the centre of attention at the Enfield supermarket this morning.

Colleague Peter Modestou, 24, was on hand to shave her hair, bringing in £700 in sponsorship plus other donations to Waverley School, in Ponders End.

Ms Watling said: “It went really well. It was quite emotional but it was very good. I’m still getting lots of people handing in their money.

“It was a very good response from customers and colleagues and my family. I’ve always wanted to do something quite substantial for a charity of some sort but never really knew what to do.

“I feel very grateful to everybody for supporting me. It’s very humbling to be able to do this for someone else. I’m still on a high from it all.”

Around 50 people gathered round to watch the event, at around 11am, and the total cash raised is yet to be counted.

Ms Watling said she was nervous beforehand and kept her eyes closed for most of the haircut.
