BUDDING young musicians are being invited to join a free music apprenticeship at a Harrow youth centre.
Wealdstone Youth and Music Centre in High Street have teamed up with Skills and Development Agency to offer a course to 50 16-24 year olds from September.
Young people looking to go into the music industry or business, whether employed or unemployed can attend the evening classes that will see experts in the field giving a helping hand.
Chris O’Brien, youth development co-ordinator, said:“We want to give young people an opportunity to take a shot at the music industry and progress their career.
“In the current economic climate, it is a great way of offering young people with the skill and desire a chance to have a recognised qualification that is free.”
The course boasts a Level 3 National Qualification and the Wealdstone Youth and Music Centre has a wide variety of music facilities, including a recording studio they have been lucky enough to have for two years.
Enthusiastic musicians will be provided with a range of opportunities including vocal training, professional studio coaching, performance and coaching rehearsals, promotion assistance, enterprise and the basics of running your own business.
Anyone interested should have skills in musical performance and instruments.
The youth centre is holding an information day on July 20 at Bridge Park Leisure Centre in Harrow Road, Brent Park to anyone interested in the apprenticeship or contact Chris O’Brien on 07545215582 or go to www.facebook.com/pages/FREE-Youth-Music-Apprenticeship-Course-in-Harrow/225356577497596.
