A HARROW woman has pleaded not guilty in what is thought to be the first modern case of slavery.
Saeeda Khan, 68, denied bringing Tanzanian national Mwanahanisi Mruke into the country to work at her Whitmore Road bungalow on October 21, 2006, in order to exploit her.
Police claim her mistreatment only ended on February 11, 2010.
Ms Khan, the director of a Tanzanian hospital, pleaded not guilty to one count of trafficking people for exploitation before Nicholas Evans at City of Westminster Magistrates Court.
She was granted bail until October 25, when she will return to court for a committal hearing.
