A VETERAN runner from Harrow will pull on her fairy wings and dust off her halo for the sixth time, when she takes part in a charity race next week.
Maureen Batterbee, 70, of Carlyon Avenue, South Harrow, has raised more than £4,000 for Breast Cancer Research over the years and hopes to add to that total when she takes part in the Adidas Women’s 5K Challenge on Sunday, September 5.
Ms Batterbee will run in memory of her friend Janet Eavis, who passed away from breast cancer in December 2008.
She said: "I'm doing it not only for Janet, but for all those touched by cancer.
"Although I find it hard at times, I know every step I take will make a difference to all the women affected by breast cancer.
"I’m thrilled to have raised so much money for Breast Cancer Campaign to help them continue their mission to beat this disease by funding vital research."
