PARKS and green spaces in Enfield were celebrated at a balloon-filled family fun day last Thursday.

Mayor of Enfield Jayne Buckland launched the final version of Enfield Council's Parks and Open Spaces Strategy by tying the document to a selection of colourful balloons and releasing them into the sky.

The strategy aims to highlight the council's commitment to protecting and promoting green spaces across the borough.

The park was packed with families and children, who had the chance to see local bands, play sports and games, do face painting and visit information stalls.

The event formed part of Love Parks Week, which finished on Sunday, an annual campaign organised by charity GreenSpace to encourage people to visit their local parks.

Edmonton MP Andy Love (Lab) and London Assembly Member Joanne McCartney also attended.

Councillor Chris Bond, cabinet member for the environment, said: “Mayor Jayne Buckland was proud to launch Enfield Council’s Parks and Open Spaces Strategy, especially in a beautiful park such as Pymmes.

“It was the culmination of a huge amount of work undertaken by our parks staff, which looked at all our open spaces in consultation with residents to make them fit for the future.

“The mayor was delighted to launch the strategy and saw that everyone who came to the event had a wonderful day.”
