POLICE are appealing for information about a massive brawl at a restaurant in Enfield last month.

Around 60 people were involved in the bloody bust-up during a George Michael tribute night at Enzo's Ristorante, in Chase Side, on July 2.

The fight reportedly kicked off around 11.30pm after a couple of men harassed another man's partner - just as a look-a-like Elton John stepped on stage.

Three people were arrested following the incident, in which bottles were grabbed from behind the bar to be used as weapons. They have been bailed pending further inquiries.

Two people, including the restaurant owner, were hospitalised after suffering minor injuries.

Officers are still trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

One diner said at the time: "Bottles were being thrown all over the place. It was terrifying. They were bottling each other and people had blood on them.

"I've seen fights before, but nothing like this."

The restaurant was packed with punters before the brawl broke out, all of whom had gone to see Rob Lamberti perform as the former Wham! star.

Mr Lamberti appeared on Granada TV's Stars in Their Eyes in 1994, when the make-up department had to alter his appearance before the transformation took place because his likeness to the singer was so uncanny.

Dozens of women, comprising 90 per cent of the audience, clustered around Mr Lamberti for support while the fight escalated.

Mr Lamberti, 37, from North Lincolnshire, said: "I saw a scuffle by the bar and Enzo waved at me to stop and turn off the music. I thought at first it was the council saying the music was too loud.

"Then suddenly everyone seemed to panic and started throwing themselves at each other.

"Someone got bottled and there was blood everywhere."

Enzo Taglialavore, 48, who has owned the restaurant for 21 years, stressed it was a "one-off incident" and he had never had to call the police before.

He was taken to hospital with head injuries after he tried to break up the fight.

He said: "It all happened so fast.

"Someone said some guys were being stupid, but I didn't get to the bottom of it. I think two different groups were involved.

"It was a one-off incident fuelled by alcohol."
