Reception to thank sponsors of Met boxes

This week I attended the Harrow Police and Community Consultative Group meeting ably chaired by Mrs Sonoo Malkani.

The meeting is always very well attended and is an opportunity for the local people of Harrow to hear from the chairs of the local Safer Neighbourhood Teams and Police on community safety matters.

I talked about the need to ensure motor vehicles were securely locked and no property was left showing to potential thieves to combat the increase in theft from motor vehicles on the borough.

Chief Inspector Nick Davies gave a very interesting presentation on the work police have undertaken to engage young people in cricket initiatives.

The events are designed take place across the whole of the borough including anti social behaviour hot spots.

Chief Inspector Davies is a huge cricket fan and his enthusiasm and expertise on the game is very obvious.

Harrow Police are keen to make criminals pay financially for crimes where they have benefited financially.

The borough lead on dealing with Proceeds of Crime Act is PC Martin Greaves and he ensured the successful prosecution of Luna Kordavani for stealing £70,000 from a local family.

Kordavani had befriended the family and over a number of years won their trust and then defrauded the family of the money.

PC Martin Greaves has received a letter from the victims family for thanking him for all the support he provided and continues to provide for the family.

PCSO John Duggan designed the Met Box which allows members of the public to post anonymous information about crime in one of 21 Met Boxes placed in and around Harrow.

This initiative has been extended to other parts in London.

Father Kevin at the John Fisher Church, Imperial Drive hosted the Harrow Met Box reception to thank the persons who pledged money for the purchase of Met boxes.

There were 10 sponsors who gave money.

Each sponsor donated £165.00 each with Mr Patel from Club 2000 donating for two boxes.

Sergeant Paul Culver from Rayners Lane Safer Neighbourhood Team is coordinating the project.
