The local police are held to account by the community - in Harrow, we have the Harrow Police Community Consultative Group (HPCCG), which is chaired by the formidable Mrs Sonoo Malkani.
Sonoo oversees the scrutiny of Harrow Police and this includes asking challenging questions around our policy and tactics.
Very sadly, Jenny Wilson, the long-serving publicity officer for the HPCCG died last week - Jenny Wilson will be a huge loss to our community. Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.
This year, Chief Inspector Nigel Crane was responsible for the policing of Pinner Fair.
This was a remarkably well run event, attended by approximately 20,000 people with pleasingly, the lowest recorded level of crime for many years.
Chief Inspector Crane's policing plan ensured we utilised half the police resources this year compared with last year and placed emphasis on the private companies who run the rides to pay for security and road traffic management.
This week saw the launch of the Wealdstone Anti-Social Behaviour Partnership (WASP) Team.
This unit will work closely with Harrow Council's Youth Service and will focus on reducing anti-social behaviour in the Wealdstone area.
WASP was launched by Gareth Thomas MP and will be led by Sergeant Ed Baildon.
I am very pleased with this initiative which will see more front line resources directed to one of our more challenging areas.

The time has come for commercial enterprise to fund their own ventures and for Police to reserve limited funds for much needed frontline services---such as the WASP team.
This seven-strong team, launched last week, has been tasked with tackling gang culture plus crime in Wealdstone. It is a partnership initiative which should pay off.
We still have the dispersal order in place in the "WEALDSTONE CORRIDOR"and are rather hopeful that a combination of policing tactics will bring much desired results. Please do assist your Police and report anything out of the ordinary to your local neighbourhood teams.
On a different note,it is great to have the Harrow Police engaging closely with HPCCG members and arranging educational tours to help us appreciate their actions/processes better. These are worth their weight in gold and really empower the common man/woman enormously.
We look forward to this dynamic style of engagement with the community being rolled out throughout the year, thereby giving the community the opportunity to look at policing close-up.This would not only inform us but allow tax-payers to truly become "partners"having the ability to appreciate what really goes on behind the scenes and enhance confidence. It is an excellent investment, which can only help us work as an even closer team.
We are deeply touched by the kind messages of support and numerous expressions of sympathy received from Harrow Police ever since the sudden loss of our Publicity Officer,Jenny Wilson,on June 3.It has been a huge shock for her family and to all those who have known her.
We will be bidding our dear colleague and friend, a fond farewell on Monday,14 June.Jenny has gone but will not be forgotten. She leaves behind a rich legacy of the excellent works she performed for the people of Harrow.
Our prayer-filled thoughts are with her loved ones.
