MORE than 7,000 items of lost property were handed in at bus garages, as well as Tube and train stations in Harrow in the past 12 months.

Bags, clothes and books make up almost half of the goods handed in to Transport for London (TfL) staff, with mobile phones and keys also high on the list.

Julie Haley, TfL’s lost property office manager, said: “If someone loses a bag, mobile phone or any belongings, please check with us because we may just have it.”

It takes at least two working days for lost property to filter back to the office, which can be contacted on 0845 330 9882 between 8.30am and 4pm Monday to Friday, except on Bank Holidays.
