A HISTORIC Harrow tourist attraction will take residents back to medieval times with its May Day celebration this year.

Maypole and morris dancers, a falconry display, archery and live music from the era will come to Harrow Museum, off Pinner View, from midday to 5pm, on May 3, bank holiday Monday.

The museum neighbours 700-year-old Headstone Manor, which will be open to the public for free all day, with guided tours around the medieval wing.

There will also be food, face painting, balloon making and a bouncy castle, as well as stalls selling ceramics, wooden toys and jewellery.

Lottie Collins, museum manager at Harrow Council, said: “If you want a real taste of English tradition get down to Harrow Museum and Headstone Manor on May bank holiday.

“Everyone can have a go at maypole dancing, enjoy performances from the Merrydowners Morris Men and find out more about morris dancing in a special exhibition.

“There is also a medieval theme this year and while costumes are optional for visitors, they are strongly encouraged. Dust off your chain mail and come and enjoy the festivities.”

Entry is £3 for adults, £1.50 for 12 to 16-year-olds and free for under-12s.
