A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Gary Bennett in an Elstree park.
The 37-year-old, from Watford, is currently in custody and being questioned by police.
Mr Bennett, who lived with his mother in Little Oxhey Lane, on the fringe of Harrow Weald, was found dead near a disused kiosk in Aldenham Country Park, Elstree, at around 8.50am on Wednesday, February 24.
Detective Superintendent Mick Hanlon, of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “The arrested man is currently helping us with our enquiries.”
He added: “I would still urge anyone who has any information in relation to Gary’s last movements or his death, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to please get in contact.”
Last week, Hertfordshire police announced that a £1,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the murderer of 46-year-old Gary Bennett, who was described as a "gentle giant" by friends and family.
Anyone with information can call police on 01707 355 959, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
