Four bailed over Iraq election 'disorder'


FOUR people arrested in Wembley following an alleged brawl outside a polling station for the Iraqi elections have been released on bail.

The quartet face charges relating to a disturbance outside the Advait Centre, in Forty Lane, on Saturday, March 6.

Police were called to reports of fighting outside the cultural centre, which was acting as a polling station that weekend for the Parliamentary elections in Iraq, and arrested 13 people.

Hussein Karwan, 28, of Cornwallis Square, Holloway, has been charged with actual bodily harm, and has been released on bail until May 5.

Hussan Ali Hardi, 22, from Peterborough, has been charged with violent disorder and fraud, and will report back to Brent Police on April 16.

Mohammed Tad Star, 28, from Hatfield, Herts, has been charged with affray and was released on bail until May 20.

Ahmed Woria, 36, from Greenwich, has been charged with common assault and criminal damage, and has been bailed until April 12.

Police continue to investigate the incident, which they initially described as “spontaneous disorder”.
