Woman 'jumped' in front of Bakerloo Line train in Kenton

AN old woman who died at Kenton station jumped in front of the train, a shocked eye witness said.

The woman was hit by a Bakerloo Line train at around 9am and the British Transport Police (BTP) say they are not treating her death as suspicious.

Nicholas Evangeli, owner of nearby Nicholas Gentlemen's Hairdresser, said one Tube passenger told him how she was just yards from the woman when the train hit.

He said: “She was on the platform opposite and she saw this old lady jump in front of the train. They said if the train moved the woman would die. This girl was very shocked.”

Two ambulances and a helicopter raced to the station in an effort to save the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Evangeli described seeing a black, private ambulance arrive to collect her body.

Alexander Oliver, a spokesman for the BTP, said: “I can confirm that a woman has died after being struck by a southbound Bakerloo Line train at Kenton Tube station today.

“The incident, which was reported to police at 9am, is being treated as non-suspicious.”
