DRAFT designs for new ramps at Harrow Skatepark have been released.
Two 20ft spine ramps and a mini ramp will be built over the freestyle area at the site, in Byron Park, following £50,000 of investment by Harrow Council.
These are only early designs and may be changed before the refurbishment is complete.
The skatepark is one of the last few in the country remaining from the 1970s and users say the concrete, handmade bowls and ramps are unique.
The skatepark was due to be bulldozed to make way for a replacement for nearby Harrow Leisure Centre but the scheme was hit by the credit crunch.
The council has now confirmed the park will be safe for the foreseeable future.
Skatepark design company Fearless Ramps has won the contract for the project.
The spine ramps will be 20ft wide and 5ft 6inches high, while the mini ramp will be 16ft wide and 4ft high.
