London 2012 Olympic badge features Harrow landmark

A HARROW landmark is among the images on badges plugging the London 2012 Olympics which go on sale later this month.
The badges feature landmarks, chosen by residents, from across the capital, including Harrow's own St Mary's Church, which sits atop of Harrow-on-the-Hill.
The outline of the historic church, which is more than 900 years' old, accompanies the official Olympic logo and the word Harrow on an orange background.
Other London landmarks which have been selected for the badges include Alexandra Palace in Haringey, Battersea Power Station and the London Eye.
Sebastian Coe, chairman of Olympic organising committee, praised the badges as a “fantastic” way to show what London had to offer.

The "Badge" should be under 24hour guard in the National Gallery considering what it is costing us.
For greater relevance, perhaps the "Badges" should feature a stream of cash and IOUs spiralling at an ever accelerating rate into large black-hole surrounding a picture of the Great Gordo, Saviour of the Universe's grimacing jowely fizzog.

Im sure other Conservative supporters and the people of Harrow would prefer a more adult and diplomatic response to the badges than a throw away cheap sound bite to seek attention.
If the badges promote Harrow one way or another surely this would and could promote awarness of the POSITVE things Harrow has to offer and may help promote people visting and staying within Harrow during the Olympic period. I can see your point about cost, but lets try to be positive about the Olympics rather than doom and gloom about the recession and pot hols in the borough.
Its a shame Counsillor Zeid doesn'r run the tourism of side at the council as it would be interesting to hear his take on the borough.

Harrow as a borough has to offer a vast amount of training facilities including the Aspire Centre in Stanmore, Harrow Leisure Centre, Harrow School and Univ of Westminster plus others to Olympic athletes/national teams...surely this would bring in a penny or 2 to the borough indirectly and the cost of local accomadation it has to offer would raise revenue into the borough?
oh...the badges are on sale now, so you could wear one to amuse yourself all the way up to 2012!!
