Jewish community hits out at 'divisive' anti-Muslim protesters

LEADING members of Harrow's Jewish community have joined together to condemn anti-Muslim campaigners who are planning a protest in the borough this weekend.

Rabbis Aaron Goldstein, Hillel Athias-Robles, Kathleen Middleton, Frank Dabba Smith, and Michael Hilton have signed a letter offering unequivocal support for the borough's Muslim community.

They wrote: “As leaders of the Jewish community in Harrow, we are writing to express our support for our Muslim friends and neighbours, especially those at Harrow Central Mosque, who are under attack from those whose only purpose is to spread hatred and fear.

“We share the desire of the Muslim community of Harrow to respect our mutual traditions, to learn from each other's cultures and ways of life, and to live together in peace.”

The Rabbis, from Northwood and Pinner Liberal Synagogue, Middlesex New Synagogue, Harrow and Wembley Progressive Synagogue, and Kol Chai Hatch End Jewish Community, used the letter to condemn Stop Islamisation of Europe, who are planning a protest outside the mosque in Station Road on Sunday, December 13.

The show of unity from the Jewish community is in defiance of a direct appeal by SIOE on its website for 1,000 Jews bearing the Israeli flag to turn up.

However, the Rabbis hit out at SIOE's “outrageous lies” which are “entirely without foundation” and accused the self-confessed islamaphobic organisation of spreading hatred and violence to divide the Harrow community.

The death wish of the Jews....it is to break the heart.

Whenever, has Muslim community stood against 'divisive' anti-Jewish protesters? I ask you. Where were Muslims during the death to Jews marches across the UK during the defensive in Gaza?

What about Islamic anti-semitism? Where are the Muslim groups and Jewish groups demanding that Jew hatred be expunged from the Koran and Islamic teachings?

Morally ill rabbis who have lost their basic instinct of self-preservation.

The Koran on the Jews

“Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews…” (5:82).

“Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.” (5:78).

“Is it ever so that when they make a covenant a party of them set it aside? The truth is, most of them believe not. And when there came to them a messenger from Allah , confirming what was with them , a party of the people of the Book threw away the Book of Allah behind their backs, as if (it had been something) they did not know!” (2:100-101).

“The People of the Book know well that that is the truth from their Lord. Nor is Allah unmindful of what they do” (2:143-144).

“Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” (9:29).

“And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah. That is their saying with their mouths. They imitate the saying of those who disbelieved of old. Allah (Himself) fighteth against them. How perverse are they!” (9:30)

The Jews killed their prophets (2:61; 2:87; 2:91; 3:21; 3:112; 3:181; 3:183; 4:155; 5:70), and boast “we killed the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary” (4:157).

“Allah hath heard the taunt of those who say: ‘Truly, Allah is indigent and we are rich!’ We shall certainly record their word and (their act) of slaying the prophets in defiance of right, and We shall say: ‘Taste ye the penalty of the Scorching Fire!’” (3:181)

“Why do not the rabbis and the doctors of Law forbid them from their (habit of) uttering sinful words and eating things forbidden? Evil indeed are their works.” (5:63)

“The Jews say: ‘Allah’s hand is tied up.’ Be their hands tied up and be they accursed for the (blasphemy) they utter. Nay, both His hands are widely outstretched: He giveth and spendeth (of His bounty) as He pleaseth. But the revelation that cometh to thee from Allah increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. Amongst them we have placed enmity and hatred till the Day of Judgment. Every time they kindle the fire of war, Allah doth extinguish it; but they (ever) strive to do mischief on earth. And Allah loveth not those who do mischief” (5:64).

The Jews “strive to do mischief on earth” – that is, fasaad, for which the punishment is specified in 5:33: “they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land.”

“Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. They will do you no harm, barring a trifling annoyance; if they come out to fight you, they will show you their backs, and no help shall they get. Shame is pitched over them (like a tent) wherever they are found, except when under a covenant (of protection) from Allah and from men; they draw on themselves wrath from Allah, and pitched over them is (the tent of) destitution. This because they rejected the Signs of Allah, and slew the prophets in defiance of right; this because they rebelled and transgressed beyond bounds.” (3:110-112)

“And because of their breaking their covenant, We have cursed them and made hard their hearts. They change words from their context and forget a part of that whereof they were admonished. Thou wilt not cease to discover treachery from all save a few of them. But bear with them and pardon them. Lo! Allah loveth the kindly (5:13).

“Among the People of the Book are some who, if entrusted with a hoard of gold, will (readily) pay it back; others, who, if entrusted with a single silver coin, will not repay it unless thou constantly stoodest demanding, because, they say, ‘there is no call on us (to keep faith) with these ignorant (Pagans).’ but they tell a lie against Allah, and (well) they know it.” (3:75)

“O Messenger! let not those grieve thee, who race each other into unbelief: (whether it be) among those who say ‘We believe’ with their lips but whose hearts have no faith; or it be among the Jews -- men who will listen to any lie -- will listen even to others who have never so much as come to thee. They change the words from their (right) times and places: they say, ‘If ye are given this, take it, but if not, beware!’ If any one’s trial is intended by Allah, thou hast no authority in the least for him against Allah. For such - it is not Allah’s will to purify their hearts. For them there is disgrace in this world, and in the Hereafter a heavy punishment.” (5:41)

“There is a party of them who distort the Scripture with their tongues, that ye may think that what they say is from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture. And they say: It is from Allah, when it is not from Allah; and they speak a lie concerning Allah knowingly” (3:78).

“Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say: ‘This is from Allah,’ to traffic with it for miserable price! Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby.” (2:79)

“But because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard; they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for Allah loveth those who are kind.” (5:13)

“Many of the People of the Scripture long to make you disbelievers after your belief, through envy on their own account, after the truth hath become manifest unto them’” (2:109).

“And when there comes to them a Book from Allah, confirming what is with them, although from of old they had prayed for victory against those without Faith, when there comes to them that which they (should) have recognised, they refuse to believe in it but the curse of Allah is on those without Faith. “ (2:89)

“For the iniquity of the Jews We made unlawful for them certain (foods) good and wholesome which had been lawful for them; in that they hindered many from Allah’s Way; that they took usury, though they were forbidden; and that they devoured men’s substance wrongfully; we have prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment.” (4:160-161)

“Thou wilt indeed find them, of all people, most greedy of life,-even more than the idolaters: Each one of them wishes He could be given a life of a thousand years: But the grant of such life will not save him from (due) punishment. For Allah sees well all that they do.” (2:96)

Allah transforms disobedient Jews into apes and pigs (2:63-66; 5:59-60; 7:166).

I would like to say to those Rabbis: who are those muslim friends of yours? Do they show up when the islamic fascists are calling for the death of Jews and the destruction of Israel?
You want to learn about islamic culture? Pay a visit to Saudi Arabia, where young women are stoned to death for having a boyfriend, or Iran where young men are raped and murdered for attending a peaceful demonstration!
When decent English people see Jews supporting the "rights" of muslims to do what they want without regard to the native people, is it surprising there is all round anti-semitism? I am Jewish and I used to be a resident of Harrow so I know this is not a recent issue.
Unless you stand up for England you will be thrust into darkness again and this time for all eternity.

Kudos to the Jews for their support of the Muslims.
As a Muslim myself, I am not proud, Shoshana, of what happens in morally corrupt countries like Saudi Arabia, with their horrible humans rights record.
They are not representative of Muslims as a whole and of Islam as a religion.

But remember, the only place in the entire world where Jews were safe during the pogroms prior to the second World War was the Muslim countries. North Africa in particular, which is why there are still so many Jews still living there.
And funny how when the Crusade took Andalucia, or Spain back, the Jews left WITH the Muslims in fear of getting persecuted by the Christians in the aftermath.

So lets all be morally and ethically good people, stand up for what is right, just like these Jewish rabbis have done.
Indeed, as a Muslim I know that other Muslims have so much to learn, and from none more so than the Jews.
These anti-Islamic remarks from Jews are counter-productive for everyone.

Please don't forget that whilst it is the Muslims that bear the brunt of discrimination today, it was the Jews yesterday.
With kind regards, and peace unto all of you.

very well put Super Student. My dear Lord, so much time and hate, all the way from NYC, why? with real or front name ???????

Very lopsided views, selective quotes and references. May be SIOE have managed to mobilise some of its supporters or it could be just a front name, who knows, either way. Some perspective and local knowledge would not a go a miss before commenting!

We all can learn from each other, otherwise where will hate, violence and wars will take us.

Thank you and Sholom (aka Peace aka Salam)

Thanks David for your kind words.
I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said.
It is unfortunate that we have Mrs Geller from New York using this article as an opportunity to bash Muslims and to take quotes out of their context.
Is that really helping anyone?

The mosque has been present for many decades, without any local problems, without any previous history of extremism or any objections from any member of Harrow's multicultural population.
But now we have these lovely fellows from the SIOE - ironically from outside of Harrow, telling the good people from Harrow not to put up with this mosque.

I hope there are no repeats of the clashes in September. The young Muslims are unfortunately easily provoked, and it is this scenario that the SIOE thrive upon.

I wish peace unto you all, regardless of race, colour, creed or religion.

The SIOE calls on Jews. Since when did we obey orders from racists. We wont.
Their friends in Europe are being prosecuted for incitement for religious hatred.
They are judged by who they asociate with and who they support, other racists and fascists. They are no friends of Jews or anyone else for that matter.
We as Jews have a duty to support Muslims and others against all forms of racism and fascism.
SIOE/EDL/BNP today-where will it lead to tomorrow if it goes unchallenged?

SuperStudent, you menitoned that "The only place in the entire world where Jews were safe from Pogroms before World War II was Muslim countries" - Here are just a few incidents:

"Pogroms occurred in: Aleppo (1850, 1875), Damascus (1840, 1848, 1890), Beirut (1862, 1874), Dayr al-Qamar (1847), Jerusalem (1847), Cairo (1844, 1890, 1901-02), Mansura (1877), Alexandria (1870, 1882, 1901-07), Port Said (1903, 1908), Damanhur (1871, 1873, 1877, 1891), Istanbul (1870, 1874), Buyukdere (1864), Kuzguncuk (1866), Eyub (1868), Edirne (1872), Izmir (1872, 1874).There was a massacre of Jews in Baghdad in 1828.There was another massacre in Barfurush in 1867."

Added to this the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, who before World War II incited riots in Palestine, before during the war helping raise Muslim SS regiments for Hitler and supporting the Holocaust.

Peace and harmony are worthy goals, but is denial a good way of achieving them?

As for the "selective quotes" and "hatred" that Davidz and SuperStudent refer to - exactly what was "out-of-context" in the earlier Koran quotes by the poster from New York? These are holy words from a holy book. Presumably not to be questioned, or disputed by Muslims.

And quotes directly-inciting to hatred, which perhaps is a factor in attacks on Jews (especially-Orthodox
) in North London, and throughout Europe and beyond to this day.

You should be thankful to the Jews who support the Muslims. But i wanna ask you..Will you support the Jews who are being offended and attacked by Muslims? You say that Saudi Arabia isn't the representative of Muslims as a whole and of Islam as a religion..My question to you,who is it that represents the true Muslims and Islam then? The Jewish rabbis don't stand for what is right for the Jewish community.Rather they put the Jews people at risk to save their own ****.Although I'm not a Jews and living in Malaysia which is predominantly Muslims, but I know my government has been playing with Muslim propaganda for some time to erode the image of Jews and Israel.I don't believe with the Muslims playing the victim card.Yes,you were right that Muslims have so much to learn..try to read the Koran again what it tells you about the Jews.Your Allah hates Jews so much, that's why many Muslims do the same thing.I hate when Muslim gives the "out-of-context" excuse when non-muslims interpret certain verses of the Koran. From logical perspective, many verses condemning the Jews and Christians give the direct meaning.I.e in Surah Al-maeda (5:51) which says not to take Jews and Christians as a friend or protector. So,what is out of context here?Your Allah has commanded you to submit to His Islamic teachings and take Islam as a way of life based on your Koran and hadith. You can't omit any teachings of your Allah.

You can't omit any teachings of your Allah. nomike
