FRIENDS of an Edgware father killed close to his home have set up a website to pay tribute to his life.

Garry Frater, 32, died in the early hours of Saturday when he was hit by a car in De Havilland Road on his way home from a night out with friends in Watford.

A Facebook page has been set up in Mr Frater's memory and an online memorial at gonetoosoon.org has also been established.

One of the messages left on the website reads: “A fun loving person who shall be missed.

“A big part of any party time, the life and soul of a party.

“Life has to go on, not to forget you but to pass on your touch in which you touch each and every person you had come across.”

Mr Frater, a father of three and avid Manchester United fan, was a popular figure in the community in Edgware.

An impromptu memorial has been set up at the spot where he was run down in Havilland Road, just yards from his home in Cobham Close where he lived with his mother Joan.

Miranda Crawford, a friend of Mr Frater's, wrote on the Facebook page: “You have touched so many people, different memories from all walks of life. Words can't explain how much I'm missing you.”

Friends of Mr Frater's who visited the scene of the suspected hit and run, described him as a “true gentleman” who will be sorely missed by all.

Mr Frater died at Northwick Park Hospital of serious internal injuries, hours after he was hit by the car.

Police launched a murder investigation and arrested Jake Lee, 21, of Heathfield Road, Acton, who has been charged with Mr Frater's murder.

He has been remanded in custody until September when he is due to appear at the Old Bailey.

A 24-year-old man has also been arrested and bailed pending further investigations.
