John Lennon movie shot in Woodhall Gate, Pinner

A ROAD in Pinner was transformed last week for the shooting of a film about the early days of Beatle John Lennon's life.

The normally peaceful Woodhall Gate was filled with trailers, film equipment and dozens of technicians for scenes from Nowhere Boy, due to be released in 2010.

The film will look at the early life of the enigmatic musician and how his upbringing shaped him in later life.

Ecosse Films, which is shooting the film starring Kristin Scott-Thomas, chosen the Pinner road as a perfect location for some of the scene meant to be in 1950s Liverpool, using the street and some of the private houses.

Councillor Anthony Seymour, who lives near to the makeshift film set, observed the hectic schedule of the crew as they shot some of the scenes.

He said: “It has been quite exciting watching the making of a period film of 1950s Liverpool in our back yard with the consequential changes to the street scene to make it possible.

“I have met more local residents watching the filming than I would normally meet as a resident, especially as the weather was very good during the filming.

“I am really looking forward to the film being released in the cinema in about a year's time."

Cllr Seymour, a life-long Beatles fan, said he thought local residents would be a little relieved filming has finished so they can park outside their houses again.
