Thousands call for international help to end 'genocide' in Sri Lanka

BRITISH MPs, Tamil leaders, and politicians have issue an united plea to the international community to take action to stop the civil war in Sri Lanka.

Around 10,000 people attended a memorial service for Murugathasan Varnakulasingham, a 26-year-old from Harrow who burned himself to death in Geneva last month in protest at the deaths of Tamils in his home country.

On the field at the back of the SKLP Sports and Community Centre in West End Road, Northolt, thousands of Tamils waited patiently to place flowers around Mr Varnakulasingham's coffin, which was draped in the national colours of the Tamils.

Politicians and community leaders lined up to condemn the actions of the Sri Lankan government, who they say are committing a genocide against the Tamil community.

Steve Pound, MP for Ealing North, told the crowds: “You may lose a battle, you may lose a skirmish, but you will not lose the war.

“My country is part of the problem, and we must be part of the solution.

“We recognise genocide is a crime, not just against your people but a crime against all humanity. I promise you we cannot, must not, and will not stand by and let this slaughter continue.”

Mr Varnakulasingham burned himself to death outside the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, despite telling his family he was returning to their home in Grange Avenue, Belmont after attending a protest against the military strikes on Tamils ordered by the Sri Lankan government.

His mother has been inconsolable since his death, but his family told the Harrow Times they were “proud” of the sacrifice he made in the name of the Tamil people.

Mr Varnakulasingham's body were carried through the throngs of people who attended the service today, and it was placed on a stage for people to take turns paying their respects.

Navin Shah, assembly member for Brent and Harrow, said: “This sacrifice is not only of an individual, but it is the ultimate sacrifice for his family for the cause of Tamil freedom.

“The world superpowers need to come together to put pressure on Sri Lankan government to stop the genocide.”

Virendra Sharma, chairman of the House of Commons All Party Parliamentary Group for Tamils, told the crowd all efforts were being made to stop the deaths of Tamils, and called on the Sri Lankan government to recognise the government envoy to the country.

Shanmuganathan Sivayogam, 48 a Northolt resident, had come to the service to pay his respects to Murugathasan Varnakulasingham.

He said: “This man wanted to show the world there is something going on here.

“100 people are getting killed in Sri Lanka every day and nobody wants to do anything about it.”

After the service, Mr Varnakulasingham's body was taken to Hendon Crematorium for a private burial watched by close friends and family.

Tamils all around the world concerns for their brothers and sisters. This International Community (IC) has the responsible for the on going GENOCIDE in the island of Sri Lanka. Only IC is taking forward this GENOCIDE.

When Israel hits the Palestine, IC raised their voice and put their efforts to stop it. But what happening in Sri Lanka. While Sri Lanka engage the GENOCIDE the put their all efforts to support Sri Lanka. Even though their (IC's) economy sink, they use their tax payers' money to help Sihala Racist Government.

Why is this??

Why is the People around the world keep silent. You are not only kills Tamil also you allow your governments to spend you tax moneys on the GENOCIDE while your economy sink deeper.

OPEN YOU EYES AND ACT TO STOP THE GENOCIDE!!!!

People who do not know the meaning of word GENOCIDE are carrying out a misinformation campaign to stop the elimination of a vicious terrorist group. Tamil diaspora who funded the terrorists are carrying out this campaign, it is good to know though that no other foreign government is misled by this propaganda supporting terrorists.

If any genocide, that was committed by Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) when they attacked Sinhalese and Muslims living in Tamil areas with machetes and guns and evicted the rest from north and east with 72 hour (24 in some areas) notice.

LTTE made the Tamil areas mono ethnic. In contrast, 54% of the Tamils live in so called Sinhala areas. Nearly 40% of the population of Colombo, the business capital of Sri Lanaka, is Tamil; nearly 20% Muslims, and nearly 40% Sinhalese. How could you explain genocide? This is just dirt propaganda to get the IC to slap an ugly label on Sri Lanka.

Tamils are getting hurt because LTTE is keeping them at gun point as a human shield to cause civilian casualties for them to cry about. They are shooting at fleeing civilians. Was any of these politicians who now yell to stop the assault on LTTE paying attentions when LTTE attacked Sinhales with machetes to save bullets even beheading mothers feeding infants? No peace with LTTE; it's barbaric terrorist organization.

Dear all,

The unfortunate death of a young tamil makes everyone sad. But, did he die for a true cause. I would consider this a 'murder' by tamil dispora who funded and made the LTTE terrorists who made youg tamils brain washed. Now everything is collapsed for them. Yes, there may be hundreds killed each day, but, all of them are LTTE terrorists. This war is going to end very soon. The terrorists will be no more. The so called mis informed, shamed tamil diaspora can fund another terrorist group some where else! where? is the burning question??

It is sad that Hon. Steve Pound, MP for Ealing North, a MP of the 'Mother of Parliaments' has not bothered to independently ascertain the real facts but has naively accepted Tamil Diaspora propaganda on a highly emotional occasion, triggered by the act of a misguided youth, and made a provocative speech that could even have led to a breach of the peace. However, I agree with him when he says, “My country is part of the problem" because, in my view, discrimination between Tamils and Sinhalese in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) started during colonial times.

Hon Mr. Pound should get 'au fait' with the real facts. He might even contact US Asst. Secretary of State Boucher and some others who appear to be more aware of the real situation.

Scoring "Brownie Points" on emotional occasions is "just not cricket".

Tamils are repeatedly discriminated by the Srilankan government and the Sinhalese and tamils are not reaching any common grounds, and also it is very clear that Srilankan governement has a strong appetize to eliminate the whole tamil race. It is nowhere in the world that the amount of killings happens in few weeks alone, war crimes, and internment camps are being operated for crimes to humanity without allowing any media coverage otherthan Srilanka. Many people in other nations including Canada and UK, don't aware about this issue as it doesn't get any media coverage it deserves.

I believe, and I am kindly asking every global citizen to interfere in this issue and take an effort to end this plight of our innocent tamil civilians in Sri lanka.

It is sad that anyone anywhere has to lose their lives. But, the fact remains that the LTTE is a ruthless group of terrorists hell bent on achieving their eelam goals no matter what.
Why did the Tamils world over who support the these murderers keep quiet when children were used in the war by the LTTE? Why the silence when those kids were grabbed from their parents and sent to their deaths?
These Tamil supporters live abroad, send their kids to schools and provide them with all facilities but turn a blind eye to the horror that Tamil kids in the North and the East undergo.
Shame on you.
Lets stop the hypocrisy and order the LTTE to give up their murderous ways, and let some other reasonable and non-murderous minded Tamils handle the situation to achieve a fair solution to the Tamil problem.

As for a Steve Pound, keep out of Sri Lanka, it's not your business. Your country did mess things up here once, NOW just keep out and mind your own business without trying these cheap gimmicks to win the Tamil votes.
As for the international communities so called "silence" over the "genocide" of Tamils in SL,
well maybe they realize the true situation facing the SL government and also understand what Genocide really means.
Perhaps this is why the ban on LTTE remains in most countries and now Canada has started to crack down on a Tamil organisation.
This is an issue of eliminating a ruthless terrorist group and not something against the civilians caught up in the middle.
Perhaps the expatriate Tamils who support and fund the LTTE can ask the LTTE to let the civilians go and fight the army face to face once and for all and finish this off.
The LTTE are miserable cowards for hiding behind civilians and not having the courage to fight like men.

I do not hate Tamils, but I will defend my government's right to fight these murderous terrorists to the end.
Civilian death and suffering is horrible, but, if the war is not finished off now, there will be other civilian deaths in the future too (Wall Street Journal view too).
Let me ask the Tamil expatriates who support the murderous LTTE, are you willing to come and live under Prabakaran and his murderous assistants if they ever achieve eelam? Those of you who so use and abuse the great freedom of speech and movement and right to vote that is there in the democratic world, are you ready and willing to come and live under the crazy, murderous and autocratic rule of Parbakaran in his eelam?
Did I hear any "ayes"?

From these emails one can clearly identify that Singhalese and Tamils cannot live under one roof. Most Singhalese believe this is terrorist problem and most tamils know it is freedom which we want. i wish to bring following points,

who ever talks about Genocide please read Un convention for genocide and in Srilanka,

1) Genocide is systematically carried out from 1938 by changing the legistlation. Singhala only rule, talking about Tamil freedombecame criminal offence , and latest in University quota system which to elimante Tamils from universities are systematic. 1956, 1971,1977 and 1983 riots are state sponsored ethinic cleansing , which end up only in Tamils killed , raped and made refugees within the Island.

2) Genocide of Tamils is be atributed by Army commander's latest speech saying Srilanka is for Singhala Budhist.

3) Genicde of Tamil just being came out because when Tamils moved ut of Srilanka they got rights tobring the truth to world.

4) Tamil tigers are no body else but being born as Tamil and being supported by majority of Tamils , they cannot be distroyed until last tamil is alive. They are fighting against a forces which is 100% singhala speaking!

5) Singhalese are preapring for another big riots once Tamil Tigers are defeated (which will never happen!) to do another great ethnic cleansing becasue majority of Tamil have left the island. Now it is easier for them to kill the remaning and make them slaves.

so my dear State sponsored agents of Srilanka , who are paid to write on these forum, please understand we have clearly showed our solidariy in UK. Uk people no know there is genocide!.Nobody or money can hide it. So STOP KILLING PEOPLE! STOP TALKING RUBISH HERE ! WE GOT ENOUGH PROOF , AND WHO EVER BEKLIEVES THEY HAVE DEFEATED OUR TAMIL TIGERS, PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH TO FIND THE TRUTH OF SRILANKAN WAR! ARMY IS RESTLESS, AND ALREADY HAS LOST THE STRONG BATTALIONS!

As our belove Ealing MP said yesterday , until a last Tamil is alive , we will fight for the freedom from Singhala Racist Army!

I thank you for those Singhala people who posted on this because my brothers and sisters in Uk are becomming more active when we read you words! Thats is more important to keep our momentum going! please write more against Tamils!

Answers to suthan, Rayners lane

People have read the definition of Genocide in Dictionary and the only Genocide that ever took place in Sri Lanka was when Tamil tiger terrorists hacked to death innocent Sinhala villagers in nearly 200 attacks.

1.Genocide cannot be carried out by changing legislation as you say. There is no Sinhala only rule in Sri Lanka, it is a democratic country (except in areas under Tamil tiger control) and people elect their leaders from all communities who rule the country. Talking about tamil freedom is not a criminal offense but supporting terrorism is a criminal offense. University quota system was introduced to let students from areas with less facilities to enter university with less marks. There was never any state sponsored ethnic cleansing, only ethnic cleansing was when tamil terrorist killed or chased away all Sinhala and Muslim people from North. It is not only tamils who got killed in this conflict more than half killed were Sinhala people.

2) Army commander never said Sri Lanka is only for Sinhala Buddhists.

3)This is hilarious point, and does not need an answer.

4) You will get the answer in 3 months.

5) Let us wait and see whether this happens.

It is only the tamil diaspora who cry about genocide, no other government, INGO, media, tell anything about genocide.

Your time is up, you cannot fool all the people all the time. (And by the way we are not paid to write the truth!)

This is such a loss of a valuable young life. The LTTE and their propaganda machine has blood on their hands.
I agree with Vanessa, Harrow where she says Tamil is great, and of course they are. Sinhala is great too and so is English, Welsh or Scottish. There is no need to openly show your racist side Vanessa!

What I do not agree is with Tamil Tiger terrorism or their supporters spreading blatant lies. There is no Genocide in Sri Lanka. But the LTTE terrorists are using this label, as it is eye catching. Only Genocide in Sri Lanka was carried out by the LTTE against Sinhalese and Muslim villagers in the north, east and north-central provinces. In the North there were many Sinhalese and Muslims 3 decades ago. Since the Tamil terrorists started the Sinhalese and the Muslims were ethnically cleansed and the terrorists looted their property. Since then in Sri Lanka's south especially south (Sinhalese majority areas) there has been an increase of Tamil population. Can anyone say if there is genocide why would Tamils migrate to Sinhala areas? Also why nearly 40% of Colombo, commercial capital of Sri Lanka is is Tamil and most businesses are owned by Tamils and Muslims?

Current war is to eliminate all LTTE tiger terrorists from Sri Lanka. Unfortunately as in any war there will be civilian casualties. Unfortunately the LTTE terrorists are keeping Tamil's hostage and using them as a human shield to save their skins. UN and ICRC have reported, quoting the escapees from LTTE terrorists that Tamils trying to flee LTTE captivity are being shot at by the LTTE and many are killed. Shells are being fired by the LTTE towards Tamil areas (people they claim to be protecting), so pictures can be taken can be used for propaganda and to keep the Tamil Diaspora brainwashed to aid LTTE Terrorist agenda saying that these were carried out by SL forces. There have been pictures used in pro-terrorist websites, of LTTE's own bombings of Sinhalese and Muslim people to discredit the government forces.
It is possible that this person was brainwashed to commit this act so that LTTE can get this publicity in the hope that the West will come to their rescue. There’s a major propaganda war being unleashed by the LTTE and their supporters and the gullible western media houses are being used for clever terrorists’ propaganda.

Tamils, Sinhalese and Muslims in Sri Lanka were ruthlessly massacred by the LTTE for 3 decades and it is time that this madness stopped, which is what the government is doing at present. There is no stopping now and the LTTE WILL be crushed, and there will be NO Eelam in Sri Lanka. Perhaps, whoever want Tamil Ealam can start a war elsewhere in the world asking for a homeland, as Tamils have managed to migrate to many other countries in the world in large numbers. Sinhalese have nowhere else in the world but Sri Lanka. But Sri Lanka is the country of Tamil, Sinhalese and Muslim Sri Lankans to live in harmony.

Reply to Cllr Jeremy Seid, yes sir we tried speaking to the LTTE for years, they just laughed, used the time during all previous peace talks to re-arm, re-group and restart the war with more force. The LTTE terrorists last breath cries for ceasefires cannot be taken seriously. They are the most brutal and most organised terrorist organisation in the world. What the British government should have done years ago is to have put an end to all the fundraising activities of the Tigers in UK in the name of false front organisations. Some of these meetings are attended by British MP's without shame. Your ignorance years ago have now led to this.

MP Steve Pound, the least the UK government can do is to investigate and stop fundraising activity on their soil against the sovereignty of another country. There is no point issuing battle cries to the Tamil Tiger terrorists just to get the refugee Tamil vote shamelessly. Honestly, it is unbelievable we have elected people like you and being paid for by our tax money!

My salutation to Murugathasan.

It makes me wonder if the government of Sri Lanka has got nothing to hide why there is no independent media allowed. Why there is media blockade under the disguise of protection of journalist. History speaks - if you have a balanced approach to struggle, even if you are a Singhalese, you voice will be silenced.

If SL govt is brave and genuinely a federal republic, then call for an immediate unescorted true free journalism in the Island. Let the world find out what has been happening in the Island for 61 years since its so called independence.

I do not believe that the writers who have written their comments here supporting the Sri Lankan government and condemning the Tamil diaspora of circulating rumours regarding genocide are necessarily paid agents of the Sri Lankan government. It is the Sri Lankan government's job to label anyone who speaks out against them as 'terrorists' & to simply inform the world that these MPs and NGOs are on the payroll of LTTE. Let us not label people and state that they are on the payroll of the government. Maybe they genuinely believe in what they write about - if this is the case, let us pity them for bloodying their hands without investigating the truths behind our suffering - the Tamil nation. After all, why should they be interested in our suffering - it is not their sisters, wives, daughters and mums who are being raped, having their foetuses forcibly removed, subjected to sterilisations, torture and murder. It is not their brothers, dads, husbands and sons who are tortured and killed on a daily basis. When LTTE capture members of the Sri Lankan army, they ensure that they are humanely treated and are handed over back to their community - unfortunately, a number of the Sinhalese community might not be aware that when they send their kith and kin to fight in the military to supposedly 'liberate' the Tamil people, a number of the kith and kin are committing these offences. They might not be aware that the government have not just created mass graves for Tamils but on occasions, they have dug mass graves for their own soldiers and claimed that the soldiers are deserters. Dear Sinhala parents, may I ask you how many soldiers have 'run' away from the army? Where are they? - they certainly are not in the Tamil areas! Have you considered asking your president and head of military where all these young people have disappeared to? Do you have accurate statistics - for missing personnel, for the so called deserters etc? Ask your government - get together and talk to each other.

The Sri Lankan government has been involved in committing the following crimes against the Tamil nation - rape, forcible abortions, sterilisations, torture, starvation, murder etc. Dear Sinhala people, may I ask you if the LTTE has visited your area and raped your women? Have they carried out forcible abortions and sterilisations? Please tell us - have they? If you feel they have, let us hear your voices. Let us see the evidence. Why are we always hearing the cries of the Tamils? Why don't you come out with the evidence of what we have done to you? Have you heard your mother and father crying everyday? Have you held your new born baby in your hands and wandered whether this baby will eventually be lost to the terrible atrocities committed against our people? Have you ever lived a life abroad and yet, not be able to consume and enjoy your meal because you are constantly thinking of the thousands of siblings you have left behind who are starving? Have you ever been pregnant and spoken to your baby and cried for the thousands of women who do not have the pleasure of doing that because they are more worried about just hanging on to the baby? Well, I have and I do not even know Sri Lanka. Professionally, I work as a consultant and let me tell you, the LTTE has not brainwashed me. Those cries of my parents and aunts and uncles who managed to escape abroad are as real as the blood that run through my body.

I am a Tamil - and have not seen Sri Lanka since I was just 4 years old - I went on a one week holiday to Sri Lanka when I was 4 years old. I have no memories of Sri Lanka. I am extremely supportive of the liberation struggle - and judging by my fellow supporters, there are millions of us across the world who have supposedly been 'brainwashed' by the LTTE. The constant tears of my mother and father are very real - today, I am teaching all my young children about what is happening in Sri Lanka. I am teaching them to demand and fight for justice and this war will continue until the Tamils achieve Tamil Eelam. For all those who are for and against the State Terrorism, please listen to the voice of a British Tamil (and I am British first) who does not even know what Sri Lanka looks like - I will fight, my children will fight, my grandchildren will fight and all the future generations will fight until we achieve our freedom - until my people, the Tamils, can live in peace and dignity. I will march and keep marching to UN and to the end of the world to achieve this. Murugathasan did not die. My generation and all future generations will be Murugathasans. One day, this world will understand. The more this world supports and promotes state terrorism, the further our struggle for liberation will grow. My dear world leaders, I am losing faith in you - and so are a lot of Tamil people. We came to you pleading for justice and protection and you have let us down badly. Dear media, we came running to you for justice and protection and most of you let us down badly. Dear media, why is the Sri Lankan government banning you from visiting the Tamil areas? The Tamils are pleading for the international governments to come to the Tamil areas and have interpreters who are Tamils themselves - and independently chosen. We have nothing to hide. The Sri Lankan government has raped not only our women, but is expecting us to live under the sand and water. Dear media, you are supposed to give voice for the voiceless. Well, has it changed now? Do voices and justice only belong to the powerful? Well, the Tamils will not give up on ourselves. Murugathasan and several others have turned themselves into unquenchable torches to represent our plights. We will create our own light and our own path. We will win for justice always prevails.

Civilians – Sri Lanka
Most of us seem to miss the point here. It is the life of Sri Lankan Civilians we are talking about. Does it matter they happened to be Tamils this time? Does it matter how you name it – Genocide or something else?

It is the duty and responsibility of a government to care and protect its civilians. Its every action and effort should be directed to safeguard its civilian safety and wellbeing. Has the elected government lived-up to its responsibility?

We have been repeatedly told by the Sri Lankan government that active soldiers in LTTE are numbered 4000 to 8000. Does it make sense that as a government representing all communities of Sri Lanka to risk the lives and wellbeing of its own civilians numbered around 250,000 in that area?

Can the government eliminate this risk by stopping the air raids and artillery fires? Of course they can. Can they allow impartial NGO’s to care for the injured and provide the relief they need? Of course they can. Can they allow free media access to report the real situation in the area to assess the need and the wishes of the people? Of course they can.

It makes me wonder, has anyone in the government has access to internet and information posted there. Please don’t tell me that those pictures posted there are doctored and made using actors. We can see the dead dismembered bodies of young and old, women and children, the injured who have lost their limbs here and there all over.

We who live in the west know how our respective governments care for its citizens; we hear stories of the police negotiating with hostage takers for days and weeks just to secure safe release of one of its citizen. That’s the value they put on each and every citizen of their country – no matter who it is, where they came from, what religion they practice. May be this is what makes them “Developed”.

It is not the time to debate, who was right and who was wrong –
It is not the time to debate, who should take the blame for this mess –
It is not the time to test your military muscle and weak heart to punish the civilians –

But, it is the time for the government to carry out its duty, take responsibility and protect its civilians. We expect the civilized world and the UN should not be mere spectators but ensure that the Sri Lankan government lives up to its obligations and international protocols.

This young Tamil man's sacrifice reminds us many facts behind Genocide of Tamils.

Adolf Hitler's self claim ideology of Aryan chauvinism was reinvented by Anagarika Dharmapala a well known Sinhala Buddhist chauvinist in Sri Lanka later 20th century. The effects of Nazi social policy in Germany was divided between those considered to be "Aryan" and those considered "non-Aryan", Jewish, or part of other minority groups. By promoting Sinhala chauvinism, Buddhist monks methodically plot the genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka who are non-Aryans for last 61 years.

Sinhala chauvinism was promoted by Buddhist monks at grass root level in villages and suburban. The politicians were compelled to rely on Sinhala Buddhist chauvinism to gain power in successive elections. Today, the evolution of this chauvinism gains nine parliament seats for monks which grant them to decide balance of power in determine the ruling party of the country.

On the other hand, successive politicians were compelled to suppress Tamil community to attain power. Even though, Buddhism preaches tolerance and pacifism, Monks promote ethnocentrism and militarism in Sri Lanka last 61 years to systematically genocide Tamils. They were succeeding in creating a taboo of elected president of the country must be a Buddhist.

S.W.R.D Bandaranaike a well known Sinhala chauvinist and former prime minister of Sri Lanka is very first individual In 1927 made representations before the Donoughmore Commission for a kind of political confederation with separate government for Tamils in the North and East. However, in 1940 the Sinhala Maha Sabha and its members solely Buddhist monks led an island-wide mass campaign to make Sri Lanka a Sinhala Buddhist country. Its main demand was to make Sinhala, the official language and Buddhism, the state religion. In 1956 the same S.W.R.D Bandaranaike supports the "Sinhala only" policy. This volte-face however, ensured him a landslide victory at the 1956 general election.

To date, Sinhala Buddhist chauvinism claims approximately 200 000 thousands innocent Tamil's life, about a million externally displaced and close to similar number is internally displaced, minority Tamils are being targeted and tortured, discriminated and massacred just for being a Tamil by Sri Lanka forces.

It is interesting, that these Buddhist monks criticize Canadian parliamentarians for raising their voice against Genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka. They even want to educate Canadians how to terrorize minorities. This Sinhala Buddhist chauvinist have already succeed Adolf Hitler by carrying out the 21st centuries Holocaust of Tamils in Vanni, Sri Lanka right under the nose of international community. This year to date 1200 innocents were killed in Sri Lanka government arranged Safety Zone, 2500 were injured severely. According to UN human rights council's Dec 2008 report in last two years 6000 Tamil civilians were disappeared or extrajudicial killed by government forces. Sri Lanka is the first country use cluster bombs to kill its so claimed own civilians.

Though, today UN and rest of the world may deliberately overlook these crimes against Tamils. However, the day of justice will come. Then, perpetrators and facilitator of these crimes must pay the price for the genocide of innocents just for being born as Tamils.

Check the above and think about why these former LTTE cadres are willing to give peace and cohabitation a chance, while the foreign dwelling "haven't been to Sri Lanka for ages" Tamil expats scream for more blood to be spilled and lives to be lost.I reiterate the fact that prabakaran is a mad murderer who will oneday get along very well with Hitler in hell. We have no animosity towards the civilian Tamil, but will not give into terrorists and their foreign supporters. I have met and spoken to Tamils who are against the LTTE and their violence. So, please lets not talk about all Tamils wanting to continue this bloodbath to achieve an eelam illusion.
Tamils have suffered, there is no question about that. We regret that very much. But, we will not allow a ruthless terrorist group to divide our country in the pretext of gaining "freedom" to the Tamils.
Tamils have never been slaves to the Sinhalese. They have lived side by side with us in Colombo and in the South, have worked alongside us.There have been unfair treatment and true grievances, no question about that. Successive governments may not have done much to redress those issues. This has to solved in a manner worthy of human beings, and not by giving into terrorism. The LTTE has murdered all the distinguished Tamil who tried to work out a solution non-violently. They murdered minister Kadirgamar, a Tamil and a former Sri Lankan foreign minister. Are you people willing to support a group that destroys even your own people.
Are you so blinded by hatred towards the Sinhalese that you are willing to overlook the killing and destruction of your own people?
As for the majority Sinhalese "hating" the Tamil, WE DON'T. We respect the hard working, hospitable Tamil people. It shows in the fact that minister Kardirgamar, a Tamil was given the plum position of foreign minister in the previous government. This was the most important position in the cabinet, and he was the one who met the "outside" world on Sri Lanka's behalf. We trusted him and respected him. Who killed him? Not the so called "racist" Sinhalese, but the murderous LTTE and prabakaran. Shows that this whole thing has gone beyond an ethnic struggle and have become a terrorist issue, with all who oppose the LTTE and dare to differ with their views getting bumped off. This terrorism we will fight and we will defeat.
The LTTE is broken, it has lost its weapons and is cornered in a 50 square km odd strip of land. Do you want to come and join them here and fight until death, are you willing to send your protected kids to SL to die with the LTTE, like the civilian shield the LTTE is keeping with them so shamefully?
Teach your kids the history by all means. It should be taught to show where mistakes were committed by both parties, but lets also teach them that there is a better way to deal with highly sensitive and volatile issues than becoming a terrorist and taking lives to find a solution.

1. Some Tamils, Sinhalese and Muslims are still waiting impatiently for the All Party Parliamentary Committee(which has been wrangling and bickering for more than thirty months in over 100 sessions) to put forward a peace package.
2.Northeast has been out of bounds for jourbnalists for nearly three years. What is being hidden from the South of Sri Lanka and the rest of the world? Even a child can guess.
3.A BBC reporter has recently told a Sri Lankan government official who invited him to Geneva to have a chat: ''Access to the ground is the only thing that matters to a reporter''.

Who are the perpetrators of “Genocide of Tamils”?

"Mahavamsa" is claimed to be the holy book of sinhala bhuddist chavinist.
This satanic version of twisted history, well explaind in detail "Genocide of Tamils".

Read the claims of a sinhala bhuddist monk, how he justifying Genocide.

"It is time that we learn from our history. As we know the most prosperous was Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa eras from 6 century BC to 13 century AD. There is a striking similarity of how our greatest kings brought about sustainable peace-lasting a substantial period of time-law & order and economic upheaval. Detailed Mahawamsa describes in great detail how genocide was used effectively.

Although brutal, it appears the only viable solution to all our ills as proved time and time again in our history and the contemporary history of many stable countries including Turkey, USA, Canada, Australia, China, Germany, Japan."

Without advancing this historically tried and tested solution, there can never be an end to our problems. We can split hairs about peace, devolution, war, dhamma, co-existence, etc. without any achievement.

I am the only srilankan at my office.I am so ashamed as my office colleagues are accusing me that our government is killing innocent Tamils and try to justify it as war on terror .They are asking if you are not killing innocent Tamils why you are not allowing the independant journalist to the war zone. We label everybody as terrorist who don't agree with our views. We are living in western world and we can't intimidate other people to agree to our views. Our country's reputation has been tarnished. The western world which was supporting us directly and indirecctly has started to criticise us and labelled our government's news report as false propaganda. Now it the time for our government to listen to the international community's call for an immediate ceasefire .

I used to study with some Sinhalese, they were lovely people, recently a Tamil chap working with my girl friend has sent her an e-mail and I found these statements supposedly uttered by heads of sates and cabinet ministers, I told her that its pack of lies, and the Tamils are trying to spread falls propaganda, can a someone refute that this is not the case- the statements are very disturbing and has genocidal intent- I am sure below is not right

Minorities are like creepers clinging to the Sinhala tree.D.B Wijetinga President
Srilanaka 1993.

Who attacked you ? Sinhalease, who saved you? Sinhalease. It’s we who attacked and protected you. They are bringing an army from India. It will take 14 hours to come from India. In 14 minutes blood of every Tamil will be sacrificed to the land by us-Oxford educated senior minister Gamini Disanayaka-July 1983.

For those who argue what’s happening in Sri Lanka is not genocide, I have one question for you. How many more Tamil civilians should be killed before you cover these killings as genocide?. The defense secretary during the interview to BBC said that anything beyond their line of control is a legitimate target “including hospital”. Under what category one should put this under? If the Government of Sri Lanka is clean in conducting this war as it claims, why would it impose a media blackout in Sri Lanka by preventing international media from reporting the atrocities on the ground of both GOSL and LTTE? Why would GOSL expel various non-governmental organizations which were active in providing aid to civilians in the war zone? Is it because international media and non-governmental organizations are bringing the truth out of the war zone?

In January 2009, the Sri Lankan Army Chief Sarath Fonseka said “It would be extremely tough for the 1,000-odd LTTE cadres to take on Sri Lankan army of 50,000 personnel”. How can a 1,000 or so LTTE, while facing the military might of the army can prevent 200,000 or so civilians trapped in the area from moving?

I sincerely hope that the international media will lead the way to expose the Sri Lankan Government and ending this genocide.

We would all like to see peace in Sri Lanka. However, this can only be done through both sides approaching the negotiating table. The Sri Lankan government pulled out of the latest rounds of ceasefire and are continually refusing to go back to talks - though the LTTE has stated that it is still willing to co-operate. The demand by the Sri Lankan government for the LTTE to lay down their arms is a bold statement - the Tamil homeland will have to be protected from the state terrorists. A negotiation is ideal. However, if this cannot be the case there is no option left but to continue our (Tamil) struggle for freedom.

A number of people have mentioned that a large number of Tamil people live in Colombo. Well, a larger number live abroad - and we had to flee the country to safeguard our lives from the state terrorists. As for the 250000 human lives who are within Vanni - do they have a choice of crossing over to the Terrorists? We have seen what happens to the people who have already crossed over. If you are deemed lucky, you will be locked up in a supposed camp and the keys are, of course, thrown away. However, the vast majority of the youths have been subjected to rape, torture and death by the military. Most are missing - I am sure the mass graves dug by the state terrorists will be found one day. Those 250000 civilians do not really have a choice and most of them have chosen to die with dignity on their homeland. As for the children who are watching this drama unfold, they are the next generation of LTTE.

And just out of interest, the state terrorist hero has now stated that there are only 400 LTTE cadres left behind - well with over 50000 military fighting against them coupled with the billions of rupees worth of arms and ammunition donated to then from countries such as India, China, Pakistan and Israel, they should be able to overrun the LTTE within a wek - well, we will see....,
