LOCAL people have been urged by Brent Council to join a campaign to wipe the borough clean of graffiti.
Incidents of graffiti have been cut in half since last year, and the council has encouraged local residents to report those responsible for the criminal damage to continue the downward trend.
It has joined forces with the Met Police, London Underground, British Transport Police, and Brent Housing Partnership to form the Brent Graffiti Partnership Board, which has been working since May last year to crack down on the problems of graffiti.
Since its formation, the partnership board has caught 12 people causing graffiti and made them sign Acceptable Behaviour Agreements.
As well as this, the organisation has put in place plans for clean-ups in neighbourhood buildings and on the Jubilee Line on the London Underground.
The partnership is now calling residents to help eradicate the problem of graffiti in the borough by reporting suspects they come across.
Councillor Daniel Brown, in charge of highways and trasnportation, said "Graffiti is a crime and we want people report it.
βIt is an eyesore, anti-social and costs taxpayers' money to clear up.β
