THOUSANDS of people are expected to march through the streets of London today in protest at the rising level of knife crime among young people.

The mass event, organised by the Peoples Coalition against Knife Crime, will unite people marching from the north and south of London who will all converge on Hyde Park.

This event ties in with the fifth annual Peace March, taking place on the streets of Brent this afternoon.

Hundreds are expected to walk the route ending at Wembley Stadium, showing solidarity against knife and gun crime.

The two marches, coming on the back of Peace Week events across the capital, is designed to raise young people’s awareness of the hostility towards carrying a knife.

There have been a record number of children stabbed on the streets of London this year already.
