A RAYNERS Lane resident suffered an embarrassing defeat in yesterday's by-election in Haltemprice and Howden.

Herbie Crossman polled just 11 votes, beaten by 23 candidates including Mad Cow Girl and Miss Great Britain Gemma Garrett.

He had entered the by-election in the hope of defeating former Shadow Home Secretary David Davis.

But in reality he did not come close, only beating two candidates out of the 26 standing and losing his deposit.

Mr Davis was re-elected last night as MP for the Yorkshire constituency with a majority of 15,355.

Why does this guy get so much coverage in this newspaper?

I look forward to next week's news:

Herbie remains infront of cricket scoreboard.
Herbie has three weetabix in the morning
Breaking news: Herbie has gone to the toilet.

I can't believe even 11 people voted for Herbie as he lives so far away.

Jeez.

Herbie - get a proper job. You obviously aren't going to make it in politics. Given the number of stories on you in the Harrow Times, I suggest a career in PR.

How much is the deposit to enter a election? £10k or something. What a waste of money.
