POLICE have arrested 22 people at addresses across north west London as part of an operation to crack down on car insurance fraud.
The arrests were made today in Harrow, Hillingdon and Ealing among other areas, targeting people suspected of faking car crashes in order to make false claims.
Officers say drivers who take part in crimes like these are generally law abiding but do it on the encouragement of a wider criminal network.
Emma Stroud, a spokesman for the police, said: "Those arrested are not thought to be the organisers of the frauds, but place themselves at risk of injury and prosecution in return for modest sums of money in comparison to the returns the organisers reap."
Operation Saisir is still going on today and police are expecting to make more arrests soon.
