A HOSPITAL radio station is celebrating this evening after a successful day of broadcasting from a Harrow shopping centre.
Northwick Park Radio, which broadcasts to patients at the hospital as well as to listeners online, completed its third ever outside broadcast from St Ann's Shopping Centre while raising money for refurbishments.
The station, which is located in the basement of the hospital, in Watford Road, wants to raise £15,000 to improve its offices, record library, and to invest in new equipment to broadcast to more listeners.
Keith Chilvers, treasurer of the radio station, said: "We want to raise the money to improve our station facilities, and to create a meeting room and area for us to train new members.
"We are pretty lucky with the tech guys we have, but we want to drag the equipment they use into the 21st Century.
"Today is also about recruiting new members. A lot of people have come across and asked how they can get involved, which is great."
More than 30 volunteers helped with the broadcast from the shopping centre, in St Ann's Road, Harrow, broadcasting from 10am to 5.30pm and collecting donations outside Harrow-on-the-Hill train station.
The station is now looking forward to attending a number of festivals and events in the borough to attract new members and continue to fundraise for its refurbishments.
